In 1940, at age 10, Sammy woke up on a bus in Barrington, Georgia. His mother had abandoned him. As the patrons of the local depot bombarded him with questions, Sammy kept his mouth shut and pretended not to hear. From then on, he became deaf and mute.

This book entertained me at the pool one afternoon last week. The story jumps around so much that it makes it a bit hard to read. I assume the TV version is easier to follow.
