Every Christmas (until this last one) I had chosen a book, purchased several copies and given them out to friends with a poem and note inside to "pass it on"- In memory of Kelli, whose giving spirit and penchant for reading touched all. Too many of my own surgeries these past 3 years made it impossible for me to do this in 2004.

After reading about my loss on "Chit Chat" (On death and life, don't shy away)- *WingedMan* PM'ed me and asked if it was OK if he made a release on the 15th in Kelli's memory. How wonderful, caring, thoughtful and "reading my mind"! As I planned to do my own release, I never even thought of others participating too!

So, is anyone out there up to a ONE book release? (This is my first try at this so forgive any mistakes I'm making here) All I ask is that you add to the inside of the book:

In memory of: Kelli and all children who have lost their life too soon.(4-lele bookcrosser)

Add a poem of your own or others if you wish

Released 18 yrs ago (7/15/2005 UTC) at Wilder Park in Elmhurst, Illinois USA

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:
this book will be left on one of the park benches in the prettiest and most fragrant parts of this park-225 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst- (look at the far south end, south of the conservatory)! This is a special, One Book Challenge Release, In Memory of my daughter(1982-1996),Kelli - lele.

My Poem inserted in book:

Let Me Walk in Beauty

O Great Spirit,
whose voice I hear in the winds
and whose breath gives life to all the world.
hear me.
I am small and weak.
I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty
and let my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made
and my ears grow sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand the things
you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden
in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength not to be greater than my brother or sister
but to fight my greatest enemy, myself.
Make me always ready
to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes
So when life fades as the fading sunset
my spirit may come to you without shame.

Great Spirit of love,
come to me with the power of the North.
Make me courageous when the cold winds of life fall upon me.
Give me strength and endurance for everything
that is harsh,
everything that hurts,
everything that makes me squint
Make me move through life ready to take what comes
from the North.

Spirit who comes ot of the East.
come to me with the power of the rising sun.
Let there be light in my word.
Let there be light on the path that I walk.
Let me remember always that you give the gift of a
new day.
Never let me be burdened with sorrow by not
starting over.

Great Spirit of creation
send me the warm and soothing winds
from the South.
Comfort me and caress me when I am tired and cold.
Enfold me as your gentle breezes enfold your leaves
on the trees.
And as you give to all the earth your warm,
moving wind,
Give to me so that I may grow close to you in warmth.
Great life-giving Spirit,
I face the West,
the direction of the sundown.
Let me remember every day that the moment will come
when my sun will go down.
Never let me forget that I must fade into you
Give me beautiful color.
Give me a great sky for setting,
and when it is time to meet you.
I come in glory.

I was riding my bike to satisfy my garage sale craving and found it on a bench in Wilder Park. I was already familiar with Bookcrossing but had never expected to find one=> this totally made my day! On the inside cover is a poem and a note specifying that the book was released in honor of the members daughter who had passed with pictures of her. It was very moving and I send good vibes to her family.
Peace,
Lara
