Sandra Boynton is possibly better known as the artist responsible for those greeting cards with the cartoon birds and hippos and sheep. In this book she has created a comic masterpiece for the chocolate lover using her talent both as a writer and artist.
The book covers the history of chocolate, its availability, the different types, the growing and manufacture, and the uses to which it is put, all illustrated with her favourite creatures (the hippos are the chocophiles; the turkey is the one who thinks carob is a suitable substitute). The text is very funny, and occasionally even subtle, and provides plenty of ammunition for the war between those for whom chocolate is a way of life and those for whom it is ho-hum-what-colour-shall-I-paint-the-ceiling. There are even recipes and nuggets of scientific information.

I picked this book up at the BCUK Unconvention in Birmingham. Both me and my Dad saw this and he said I should take it for my Aunt who is a chocoholic... but I think I might just keep it for myself as I love chocolate too!
