The Eyre Affair
12 journalers for this copy...
"In Jasper Fforde's Great Britain, circa 1985, time travel is routine, cloning is a reality (dodos are the resurrected pet of choice), and literature is taken very, very seriously. England is a virtual police state where an aunt can get lost (literally) in a Wordsworth poem and forging Byronic verse is a punishable offense. All this is business as usual for Thursday Next, renowned Special Operative in literary detection. But when someone begins kidnapping characters from works of literature and plucks Jane Eyre from the pages of Brontë's novel, Thursday is faced with the challenge of her career. Fforde's ingenious fantasy-enhanced by a Web site that re-creates the world of the novel--unites intrigue with English literature in a delightfully witty mix." -- Amazon.com

On its way to seacloud49 in Germany!
This just arrived today. Will read ASAP. Thanks! :-)
I read this book in one sitting. The story is really weird but fascinating at the same time. I loved the parts where people walk around in books. Now I'm really looking forward to reading the other Thursday Next novels.
I have already PM'ed dodau for her address and will send the book to her once I have it. Thanks for doing the bookring, krin511.

Sent to dodau. Sorry for the delay. Have a good journey, little book!
I'd forgotten that I had signed up for this and have been trying to trade for a copy recently. hence when seacloud pmed me for my address I confused her by offering a trade for it. LOL. Still it's all sorted now and I'll starting this later today.
The first of The Thursday Next books and the only one I hadn't read. But I wasn't disapointed, the characters were as well drawn as later and the encounter with Hades was a joy to read at last.

Arrived safe and sound! Thank you!
Unfortunately, I was unable to read this and I'm going out of town for a while so I have sent this off to Maurean. I am sorry to have held this up for so long! I had a windfall of rings come at once. I hope to read this at some point. Thank you for sharing this!
This has arrived here in Florida, and is next up on my list to read. I've been looking forward to trying a Thursday Next novel, and I'll journal again as soon as I've had the opportunity. (Thanks for sharing, Krin511)
This tale was funny, entertaining, and exceptionally clever...and really, just a fun read. Thanks again ever-so-much for sharing these, krinn511, and now I am even more curious about Thursday's next adventures!
I have received CynthiaA's address already, so I will get this in the mail on my next PO run. *mailed 01/21
Arrived safe and sound! I'm looking forward to it!
Well, this was a fun little romp of a book. Light and unusual. You really have to suspend your disbelief, but parts of this book are just hilarious and it is supposed to fun more than anything. The character names are wonderful, some of them made me laugh out loud. I found the whole Thursday/Landen love story to be too fluffy.
Its off today to Ceili, as batty informed me that she had found another copy to read.
Received this a few days ago and have started reading it.
Update May 7: Have PM'd Rutchmather twice for her address but have received no reply.
Update May 19: It took me a little bit of time to really get into this book but once I did, I loved it! I especially loved the clever literary play on words. Thank you for letting me participate!
The book is now on its way to Rutchmather. Enjoy!
Book arrived safely this morning to my post office box. Just as soon as I finish my biography of Steichen (166 pgs) I will dig into it.

Finally finished the series with the first book being last. I don't recommend this approach since I had the feeling of dejavu the entire time. Of, course, stupid, references are made in later books...
This has been a wonderful journey. Hopefully, another of the Thursday Next series will pop out of Jasper in the future. I don't keep track of such things on his website but would like to be pleasantly suprised by another book. I do believe I'll have to get the entire set, just for myself.
I have emailed Woosang for an addy so as soon as it appears (must wait a
fortnight) the book will head to the other side of the world, with my best wishes for an enjoyable reading experience.
received today, I have 2 rings in front, but I hope to get to that book soon. Thanks Krin for sharing and thanks Rutchmather for mailing it to me.
What an interesting series ! I had heard much about it and I was not disappointed by the first book, I'm even more eager to get my hands on the other books and will soon thanks to awesome BCers ! As for this one, it was a great read and being a Jane Eyre fan, it was fun to see what could possibly happen in this ever-changing novel.
Thanks Krin for sharing it through a ray and since you said you didn't want it back, I found it another loving home in Alberta.

I had high expectations for this book based on other reviews and such. While I enjoyed it, it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It wasn't until the last third or so that I started getting in to. I thought it was quirky and enjoyable, but it didn't wow me. I have several other books in the series, and will probably read them.

I found this book quite hard to get into initially. It has taken me 3 weeks to read which is highly unusual as I usually plough through at least 2 books a week. I found it a bit slow to begin with and a little confusing at times. The last 3rd was great though, I started to enjoy the characters more and it felt like the book had picked up the pace. I have a few others in the series but think I'll have a rest before I start the next one!

This book was given to my friend Snoopy56 when we met today at Vera's Café. She said she thought her husband would probably enjoy it.
To the finder:-
Welcome to bookcrossing -you have found a travelling book. Please make a journal entry now to say where you found the book in case it has been moved. Then, when you have read it, please come back and make a further entry saying whether or not you enjoyed the book and why. It is now yours to do as you like with it, pass it to a friend or just leave it somewhere different for someone else to find and help it with its' journey. Of course if you can't bear to part with it at the moment then keep it, but please let me know that you have found it. If you join bookcrossing, which is free and spam-free, you can follow the book on its' travels as you will get an email each time it changes hands, but if you prefer to remain anonymous, that's fine too. Please also say what you intend to do with the book next. Thanks for coming onto the site to let me know you have found the book.
I already have books travelling in many countries around the world-a list can be found on my bookcrossing profile.
When re-releasing this book please be aware that airports are not a good place to leave books unless they have a specific book exchange shelf or area, due to security problems, so they may well just be disposed of. Also charity shops may well discard books that have been labelled in any way and they mostly chose only the books in the very best condition
to place on their shelves and discard the rest-so another bad release option.
