Journal Entry 3 by SCOUT-FINCH from Sherman Oaks, California USA on Tuesday, October 25, 2005
So yesterday my husband was having a business meeting in our living room, and I needed to pick up our 9 year old son and his friend from school and kill some time. After the obligatory trip to the donut shop (them) and Starbuck's (me) I told them we were going to go on a treasure hunt. Legomeister is well versed in BC so he started explaining it to his friend, Vetgirl. First we went looking in Rite-Aid for..what was it? the Dog Food aisle where Vetgirl took out every single can and bag of dog food...(while I talked loudly about the various brands in case a Rite-Aid employee happened by) - no luck there, so we looked at the toothache meds and the reading glasses, but we couldn't find any of t-l-t's recent releases.
One more stop, I declared, though I could see Vetgirl beginning to doubt my sanity - and off to Joanne's we went. And lo, sitting right on top of the knitting needles, hiding in plain sight, was this book! I picked it up and said to the kids "here's the treasure, now we can go." and VetGirl loudly proclaimed "but isn't that like STEALING??" OK, I guess we didn't explain it well enough... so I calmed her down by telling her that "a friend left it there for me" and that seemed to do the trick. What can I say, legomeister was excited for us....
I may read this one, but whatever I do, I will Wild Release it so someone else can STE..uh..find it...
Whooooo-hooooo! This is only my second Wild Catch in
3 1/2 years of BCing...

RELEASE NOTES:

I got a quick catch at this restaurant when I had lunch there with my mom a few weeks ago, so thought I'd try again. This was the only book I had in my car so I grabbed it and off it went (propped up on the counter in the Ladies' Room). I had the feeling the previous catcher worked there, so maybe they'll stumble across this in the Lost and Found or something..
This is a quite nice restaurant, BTW!

I got this book at a Friends of the Library sale in Van Nuys. I'm a Ruth Rendell fan and this is one I hadn't read. It's one of her better ones (in my opinion). It's an early book. I've found That her earlier books are meatier than her recent ones. I'm giving it to my daughter. Who knows where it will go from there.
