It's a funny book that twists the old fantasy hero quest premise on its head. The hero buys a magic kingdom out of a catalogue, and finds that being its king -- what with the incompetent court magician, a talking dog for an advisor, and an evil lord of the demons after him -- may be a bit more than it's cracked up to be. If you enjoy Terry Pratchett's brand of turning fantasy conventions askew, you may like this book.
