This book is in a Controlled Release!
2 journalers for this copy...
This is a leftover library book from my children's old school. I think I read this once for bookclub too but as I can't recall it - I will have to re-read.
I am reading this on my way to Europe and posting to ETMadrid as a RABCK for my 5 year's membership of bookcrossing.

How wonderful to return home after a week away to find this book waiting for me. Thank you SO much!!! I feel like I'm being spoilt by bookcrossing - this is actually the second book that I've received as a result of having the title on my wishlist. I never thought I'd really receive any of them in this way! I'll of course be following the good example. meganh I hope you have a good trip in the UK, and I hope it doesn´t rain EVERY day... Today is the very worst of London weather.
This book was on my list as I very recently watched the film of Plath's relationship with Ted Hughes, and ended up staying up well into the early hours, midweek, and I was quite a wet rag by the end of it! Thank you for giving me this opportunity to read it. Hopefully this is just the first lap of many round-the-world journeys!

Glad you received this book so quickly. I sent it from the Lakes District where we spent a week walking despite the almost constant rain - the landscape is fantastic. I read the book while I was there and was very moved by this personal chronicle of Edith´s battle with depression. She was fortunate to have a benefactor who moved her from the state institution but it was interesting to hear of the almost barbaric treatment she received. Her deliberated act of pursuing the loss of her virginity whilst still undergoing treatment was detailed in it´s telling. I thought the writing quite similar to Janet Frame.

This one's next up...
26/10/08 A brilliant book. Contains a passage about what it feels like to be on the brink of inexplicable floods of tears that I'm sure is the best I'll ever read. And much more. Not a book to skim read, as every sentence is so rich, worth lending attention to.
My husband may re-read this as he studied it at school and loved it. Or I might pass it onto a friend I'm seeing next week...we'll have to see.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I gave this to a friend, who, it transpires, usually reads regency romances. So in exchange for this alternative to her usual reading material, I was given a Mills and Boon, which I will have to try 'cos I've never read one - a fair deal!! I hope she likes this, and whether or not she does, she thinks her mother'd like to read it after her. I hope it enjoys its stay in Yorkshire - we did!
