Caught at the October Bookcrossing meeting? Wharton is a master of detailed description and of the contemporary society and the rules her characters lived in. The protagonist here though perhaps is her own worst enemy, and doesn't make her as likeable as other Wharton heroines--but that's just my one opinion.
