>>>Phryne Fisher, her sister Beth and her faithful maid,Dot,decide that Luna Park is the place for an afternoon of fun and excitement with Phryne's two daughters, Ruth and Jane. But in the dusty dark Ghost Train, amidst the squeals of horror and delight, a mummified bullet-studded corpse falls to the ground in front of them.<<<

Journal Entry 2 by pinkozcat from Claremont, Western Australia Australia on Sunday, June 19, 2005
Hmmm - bullet studded corpse is a bit of an exaggeration - he only had one bullet hole - right between the eyes; any more would have been a waste of good lead.

I enjoyed this book far more than the last Phryne Fisher book I read; I'm not sure why - maybe it was Lin Chung's numerous relatives and the thought of that 'beautiful' man parading around in clergyman's garb.

But, naturally, Phryne solved the mystery of the long lost heir, who, being an honest workman, took the money and ran; and the baddie ended up in a straight-jacket.

All very satisfactory but I'm starting to worry about Phryne's cigarette smoking - she is going to get smoker's face and die before her time.

Posted to Littlemave. Enjoy!

Journal Entry 5 by Littlemave from Weston, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Friday, August 5, 2005
Oooh lovely, another Phryne mystery. Thanks pinkozcat, picked it up from the mailbox after work today.

Mr Mave noticed your address on the back of the packet and exclaimed "I know that place!" as he used to live in the minty area near you, and went to the primary school in your suburb! [A long time ago in a galaxy far away...*g*]

Journal Entry 6 by pinkozcat from Claremont, Western Australia Australia on Friday, August 5, 2005
Mr Mave would find the area sadly changed; not as much in the minty part although a lot of new houses have been built there - but here on the beachside the super-rich have taken over and are building huge, horrible houses. :(

Journal Entry 7 by Littlemave from Weston, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, September 4, 2005
Finished the book at the weekend.

This was a mix of local gold rush history, traditional chinese customs along with some chinese history (i liked the way this was worked into old letters), Phryne's family dramas, some forensic detective work, and of course a smattering of gratuitous sex! Another winner. *g*

Will pass it on to catsalive this week.

Journal Entry 8 by Littlemave from Weston, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Sunday, September 4, 2005

Delivered by littlemave yesterday, thanks.

Journal Entry 10 by wingcatsalivewing from Rooty Hill, New South Wales Australia on Sunday, September 11, 2005
Very enjoyable. She's quite the super-hero our Phryne - better than Wonder Woman by far.

I'll post to Funkybamboozle tomorrow.

Journal Entry 11 by Funkybamboozle from Sydney CBD, New South Wales Australia on Tuesday, September 13, 2005
ooh...its signed!! arrived today

im not sure if I agree with catsalive's comment that she (Phryne - not catsalive who Im sure is part superhero with all her releases!) is better than Wonderwoman, unless some sarcasim was attached.

Ill Read this over the weekend.

Journal Entry 12 by Funkybamboozle from Sydney CBD, New South Wales Australia on Sunday, October 16, 2005
Due to lots of "real life" issues, I was a little lax in getting to this book - my "Ill Read this over the weekend", became "Ill read a few pages a day over the next month". SO rry to hold up the ring, but it will be on its merry way tomorrow.

To be honest, Im getting a little tired of Ms Fisher. I was exhausted reading this novel.

Off to buggy hare in this weeks post

Journal Entry 13 by buggyhare from Brisbane, Queensland Australia on Wednesday, October 19, 2005

I enjoyed this just like all the others - actually possibly somewhat more than some.

It will be heading off to sally906 next. I'd like to send it together with Murder on the Ballarat Train and Murder in Montparnasse, so I'll see how soon I can get them read.

Edit February 28th, 2006: Posting to sally906 today.

Journal Entry 26 by half-magic from Perth City, Western Australia Australia on Monday, September 11, 2006
WOW - what a thrill! I caught this book yesterday morning running through the rain from my car up to my office. I saw the book lying on the wall and thought "oh dear - some poor person has accidently left their book out in this crappy weather". I went to grab it to take it inside when I realised that it was a Book Crossing book - FANTASTIC -I was like a 5 year old - I was sooooo excited!!!! I remember reading about the Book Crossing movement about three years ago and thought it was a fantastic idea but had never got around to joining. Wow and now I had found one!!

Have started reading the book - hilarious!! Loving it. Phryne may just be my new role model.

Thanks Pinkozcat!
