Night Watch

Another episode for Sam Vines and the Watch, this one with an intricate time-travel and revolution plot.
I didn’t take immediately to the early Night Watch crew and the earlier city folk, but Sam is always fun to spend time with, and his sympathies drew my sympathies. Another plus, Lu-Tze (the old, bald-headed, grinning Sweeper first seen in Thief of Time) makes an appearance.

“And what do they talk about beyond the barricade, my little lad?”
“Um…well, Justice an’ Truth an’ Freedom and stuff,” said Nobby.
“Aha. Rebel talk!” said Carcer, straightening up.
“Is it?” said the major.
“Take it from me, Major,” said Carcer. “When you get a bunch of people using words like than, they’re up to no good.”
