A tremendouly funny tale of temptation, toyboys and tears

Daisy MacLean runs the country house hotel owned by her flamboyant father, Hector. When she hears who's about to get married there, she isn't worried at all - her friend Tara absolutely promises there won't be any trouble between her and ex-boyfriend Dominic, whom she hasn't seen for years. But Dominic has other ideas...
Meanwhile, Hector's getting up to all sorts with...well, that's the village's best kept secret. And then Barney turns up, with a little something belonging to the husband Daisy's been doing her best to forget. That's the thing about hotels, you never know who you're going to meet. Or whether they're going to stay...

On it's way to Katybean as a BookRelay

Journal Entry 3 by katybean from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire United Kingdom on Thursday, June 2, 2005
Book arrived safely this morning thanks!

Unfortunately I opened it 'after' I had hoovered up LOL, so I got my toddler to pick up the shiny stars for me :o)

Thanks for the book, I will now cross of my wishlist, and then journal again when I have read it!

Katybean

To go to tabyorky after me!!

Journal Entry 4 by katybean from Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, September 28, 2005
I took this book on holiday with me (actually managed to read 4 books in the week, and now have white marks around my eyes where I have been squinting LOL)!! I went on the Ocean Village Cruise ship and visited Tunis, Rome, Cannes, Barcelona, Ibiza and Majorca - so I guess the book is 'kind of' well travelled!!

I really enjoyed this book, and found it a quick and entertaining read - I'm glad that Daisy ended up with who she did!!

This book is going to go with another book (which I shall be reading very soon) to Tabyorky, as I'm going to post the two books together.

Journal Entry 5 by tabyorky from Doncaster, South Yorkshire United Kingdom on Thursday, October 6, 2005
Received in the post yesterday, but the postman took it to the sorting office as I was out and it did not fit through the letterbox. Thanks for the book katybean.

Excellent read. Ended better than I thought it would.

Journal Entry 10 by Amberkatze from Wien Bezirk 10 - Favoriten, Wien Austria on Tuesday, January 10, 2006
Thank you dirtydancer2 for sending this to me!!! I have other books to get through so this may spend some time on my tbr pile but I am sure I won't be able to help myself and will read it asap :)

Thank you for the Western Mail (packing)!! I will be reading this and doing the puzzles! (even though it is a week old). I will be keeping hold of it to use for teaching! Actually if this package hadn't of had a Jill Mansell book in it I would of been happier about the Newspaper! hehe

Will start a ring with this book when I am done with it.

Journal Entry 11 by Amberkatze from Wien Bezirk 10 - Favoriten, Wien Austria on Wednesday, February 22, 2006
Loved it!! Another great Jill Mansell book! I am still waiting for the bad one that I hate but until now none of her books have disappointed me!

I got 4 more of her books in the post yesterday so there are loads of Mansell rings coming up ;)

Journal Entry 12 by Amberkatze from Wien Bezirk 10 - Favoriten, Wien Austria on Saturday, February 25, 2006

Yay! Received today - thanks Amberkatze!

By the way, good idea re jokes! One Q: am I meant to take one and keep it as a souvenir, add something instead, or take one, journal it and put it back?

[edit: now I've read your journal entry, I understand - no need to answer the Q :) ]

Looking forward to reading this - might take me a few days to get around to it :)

RELEASE NOTES:

Fun book! I think I possibly enjoyed Miranda's Big Mistake more, but probably only because I read it first. Methinks I detect some plot and character similarities... I'm getting another Jill Mansell book soon (again, courtesy of Amberkatze's bookring organisational skills ;) ), so I guess I'll be able to see whether she does much differently.
(By the way: not saying there's anything wrong with this!)

I did enjoy it - it was a great escape from reality :)

Anyway, I posted it on to LindyLouMac this afternoon. Thanks to Amberkatze for arranging the ring!

Journal Entry 15 by LindyLouMac from Tywyn, Wales United Kingdom on Friday, March 31, 2006
This arrived on Tuesday, not been online much this week as have been enjoying the lovely sunny weather. I will start reading this weekend as soon as I have completed current book. Thanks to Amberkatze for starting this ring and the fun idea of the jokes! Also many thanks to Mochagirl for enclosing a postcard for me of Oxford, one of my favourite English cities.

Journal Entry 16 by LindyLouMac from Tywyn, Wales United Kingdom on Tuesday, April 4, 2006
A good read in her usual amusing style, with the occasional clever twist. Jill Mansell obviously likes dogs, as this is the second title of hers I have read recently where a dog plays a major(?)role!
I will be sending this on to Blaisezabini12 later this week.

I'm hijacking this journal to say that I'm starting up a couple of (hopefully international!) bookrays for two books by Serena Mackesy. They are essentially chicklit, and are witty and fun so I think all you Jill Mansell fans might enjoy them ;)

Picked up yesterday from the post office. I've already read 100 pages and as the weekend is already here...I have the willing this will be my read for the next 2 days:)
Thank you LindyLouMac for mailing this to me (and for the lovely postcard:) ) and thank you Amber for another Jill Mansell ring!

16 April 06: as promised I've already finished this book.
What I find surprising about the novels written by J.Mansell, is the way in which even though the background of the story is a small village/town it is still populated by gorgeous men and women and that in the end everyone finds someone! (even the dogs or cats:) )
I have pmed the next reader for the address and I hope that the book will be on its way real soon.

26 April 06: mailed today!

Journal Entry 21 by Amberkatze from Wien Bezirk 10 - Favoriten, Wien Austria on Saturday, June 17, 2006

Journal Entry 23 by katayoun from Tehran, Tehran Iran on Saturday, July 1, 2006
thanks so much, a fun read. i really like jill mansell (and it's all your fault! :)) it was the usual mansell i think, fun light romance; crazy, lovable characters (i like it that there are so many people in her books, and not one or two main ones and then shadows!); and light, easy reading. most enjoyable for relaxing and ofcourse laughing. it's handed over to hengameh

Journal Entry 24 by Hengameh from Tehran, Tehran Iran on Sunday, July 9, 2006

Raindrop is swamped with books so will send to BooksBikesBoats instead once I receive the address.

Update: I sent this on some time ago although it may have got caught in slow Christmas post - so it may just be delayed. Canada Post is terrible!

Journal Entry 30 by tabby-cat-owner from Bellingham, Washington USA on Thursday, January 4, 2007
received in the mail yesterday from booksbikesboats of Wilmington, North Carolina. I look forward to reading this but I have four other bookray books to read first.

Journal Entry 31 by tabby-cat-owner from Bellingham, Washington USA on Wednesday, January 17, 2007
Finished this book today. It was a fun book to read. Jill Mansell always grabs your interest right away. Her characters are likable, even the ones with flaws because she has a lot of insight and compassion. Of course, there are some characters that are unlikable like the character that kicked a friendly little dog!

I was actually trying to read two Jill Mansell books at the same time. One in my purse when I'm out on errands or at Starbucks and one at home. This book won and I carried it with me everywhere and read it at home!

I'm contacting mellonhead for her address.

This was such a fun read. One of my favorite chick-lit writers, Mansell makes her characters so real. I've Pm'd Lulubookish for her address.
