This is a good story about a survivor of rape. Alice Sebold tells the story of being raped in college (a very vivid retelling in the first few pages). The point of the story is her recovery and facing her rapist and bringing him to trial. She also explores the term 'lucky' reminding the reader the 'being lucky' is all relative.
