>>>No one has less interest in mysteries than Corinna Chapman, who has bread to bake, but they seem to be arising spontaneously in the vicinity of her bakery, Earthly Delights. Between the mouthwatering distractions of loaves and muffins, of Jason her apprentice and Horatio the cat, she's keeping an eye on the door as she waits for the exciting Daniel, her recently acquired lover, to walk back into her life.

After a week of no communication Daniel finally returns, bruised and battered from a run-in with a so-called messiah. but disturbing things are also happening close to home. Juliette Lefebre, the owner of Heavenly Pleasures and the maker of the most gorgeous chocolates in town, is distraught. Someone is spiking her very expensive chocolates."

9 out of 10

I thoroughly enjoyed this book - it is full of good food and charming cats; what more could you want. To crown it all, Kerry Greenwood uses the English language very amusingly and it is altogether a fun book.

I must now try to track down the first book in the series, "Earthly Delights".

9 out of 10

I wasn't feeling too well this morning so I took the day off work. When I received a package around 11am I knew what I'd be doing for the rest of the day, and I did. I read this delightful Corinna Chapman episode from cover to cover and loved it. A couple of new characters join the others in Insula & fit the atmosphere well, and even more adorable cats. Poor Jason had rather a hard time in this one but I'm sure he'll be fine for the next installment. The problem now is that the next installment isn't released until next year.

Thanks pinkozcat. I really enjoyed this. What could have been a miserable day has now been a lovely day of indulgence. Off to gypsyrose02 next.

Dropped in the post Saturday 24/9/5.

This is a note to self:

puppymummy has had this book since 3rd November, waiting to read it after she received 'Earthly Delights'. Through no fault of her own this book was held up and she has borrowed a copy of Earthly Delights so that she can read both books in order and pass Heavenly Pleasures along as soon as possible.

9 out of 10

Wonderful, wonderful series - I have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with Corinna, even though she doesn't appear to like dogs much. I think that I will search out copies for my permanent collection, I really want to share these with some family and friends. Thanks for introducing me to these, pinkozcat! I will be posting it on either today or tomorrow.

When I arrived at the post office today with my blue card to pick up a parcel that is too big for the PO Box I was greeted with a large cardboard box ! Full of packages! Every one of them books :)
And this was one of them, perfect timing as I just finished reading Earthly Delights and absolutely loved it. Thanks so much for these books, totally indulgent. I'm starting Heavenly Pleasures as soon as I press the Submit button :)

I just love her Corinna and Daniel and all the cats - this book was as good as the first. I will send off to astro248 along with Earthly Delights soon.

Tantan asked me to send her the recipes from the back of the book and when I read it I could understand why - here is one to share with everyone:

Chocolate Orgasm Muffins

Muffin mixture:
2 cups self-raising flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup brown sugar
125g melted butter
2 eggs
1 cup of milk

Filling:
200g bittersweet chocolate
1/2 cup cream

Preheat oven to 200 C and grease two 6 cup muffin trays.

Make the filling by melting chocolate and cream together (2 mins in microwave or in a saucepan on stovetop) - set aside.

Make the muffins by mixing flour, cocoa and brown sugar together in large bowl. In separate bowl mix the butter, eggs and milk together. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and slap it about a bit. (That's what she has written - I promise - Sally)

Using a metal spoon put a glob of muffin mix into muffin tin - fill half way. Then put a glob of muffin filling into each tin on top of mix. Finally, very quickly top with rest of muffin mix and put straight into oven - if you don't do this quickly they will taste nice but won't rise. Bake for about 12 mins - but every oven is different - is cooked when they spring back when poked.

Ah - thank you! I was waiting for the book to return so that I could get that recipe.

I have another muffin recipe somewhere whihc uses 'Rollos' for a chocolate and caramel centre. I'll see if I can find it and post it.

An enjoyable read ... only problem is, you get very hungry for some reason!!

Off to luckaye today.

PS to Pinkozcat: Any luck with the Rollo Muffin recipe?

No luck with the Rollo recipe so far. Thank you for reminding me about it. I am going to have to shake out all my recipe books and see if I stuck it into one and forgot it; I've already looked in all the places I'd expect to find it, i.e my muffin recipe books.

I could not resist reading this book! I am such a bad Lucie! But who can resist the adventures of Corrina and her fellow Melbournians?! I love reading about the city where I used to live and the food ..... I get hungry just thinking about the divine bread. Good thing for me that I can no longer eat normal bread.
Anyway, I had figured out early in the piece who was spiking the chocolates - shame on them!
A very enjoyable book - I look forward to the next one :)
