I've been reading a lot of books about Middle Eastern and Indian women lately, but am not sure I'll get to this one. I plan to release it instead at the Mason Community Center Book Swap.

To be read. I like to read memoirs of people from places other than the US. This looks interesting and I like the cover art, too.

9 out of 10

I enjoyed reading this. It was obvious the narrattor really loved her home country and the people there. I was glad that this was the focus of the book. Their was enough focus on the politics to make it understandable without it being a really political story. I was interested in many facets of this story and would love to read more about what it was like for her to come to America and raise a family.
It seemed as though the author didn't fully believe in some of the superstitions she was mentioning, but didn't want to give them up not so much out of habit, but more out of custom. In one case, she had a bad dream and it is a superstions to talk to water to wash the bad dream away. She did it, but indicated that it didn wash anything away though. It seems similair to people nto walking under a ladder now, even though they truly know it wouldn't matter.
I finished reading this at Panera today, so I left it there on the fireplace for someone else to enjoy. I have yet to have a journal entry from Panera, but it seems like such a good release spot that I persist. Besides, I like to go there and eat.
