Book Description:

Harry Dresden is the best at what he does. Well, technically, he's the only at what he does. So when the Chicago P.D. has a case that transcends mortal creativity or capability, they come to him for answers. For the "everyday" world is actually full of strange and magical things--and most of them don't play too well with humans. That's where Harry comes in. Takes a wizard to catch a--well, whatever.

There's just one problem. Business, to put it mildly, stinks. So when the police bring him in to consult on a grisly double murder committed with black magic, Harry's seeing dollar signs. But where there's magic, there's a black mage behind it. And now that mage knows Harry's name. And that's when things start to get... interesting.

Magic. It can get a guy killed.

It has arrived at last. :)

I have been very curious about this series. I love the supernatural, and stories with magic and witches and strange creatures. Looking forward to reading it.

Great book. Great series. I loved Dresden. That should be enough of a review... :o)

I loved Dresden's utterly sarcastic take on situations and some people, understood most of his motivations and the way he thought, and I really liked the whole feel of the novel and this whole hidden magical world in this novel. One never gets bored throughout the novel as there's something always happening, be it gruesome murders or demons or even people chasing after you with big swords. But, really, a novel of this type can work if you have a narrator/main character that can carry the story, that you can't help but like and root for, which is what happens in this case.

This book is now going to a certain person, who shall remain secret for now. Hope she enjoys it.

Just finished this and it was really great. I'm also watching in parallel the tv show, so I could really imagine Harry Dresden fighting the bad guys with magic. It's almost like a grown up version of Harry Potter.

I'm also curious how will his relationship with Karrin Murphy, the police detective that works with him on some cases, will develop in the next books.
