I just love watching Jacques Pepin on TV. The first few paragraphs of this book looked engaging.
Mailed off today to ramson as part of the Fresh Meat Reverse Relay on bookrelay.com.
Received yesterday as a trade from the bookrelays. Adding to the TBR for now.
An excellent book! What an interesting life. I have always enjoyed watching Jacques Pepin on television, but have even more appreciation for him since reading this book. I am mailing it out to ri later this week. Enjoy!
Woo hoo! This one has been on my wishlist for quite a while. I was so glad to get this one in the Bio/Memoir swap! Thanks, so much!!
I really enjoyed this one! Of course, I always love reading about food, especially these days when I am so hungry from being 5 1/2 months pregnant! ;) I've never seen Jacques Pepin on tv, but that didn't matter as I was able to imagine him clearly chopping away at veggies and stirring sauces in a kitchen. I especially liked the progression of his cooking style, always learning and adopting new things into his cooking. His back to nature, harvest/forage your own foods approach really appealed to me too. I have a strong desire now to go out hunting for wild mushrooms of my own! My only complaint was that the book just seemed to end abruptly. I was expecting a final wrap up chapter and turned the page only to find the index!
Thanks for passing this on, ramson! I'm not yet sure of the fate of this book, but I do hope it'll end up in the hands of another foodie!
Edited on April 3, 2007: This book was sent today to ghir as part of a trade. Enjoy!

Arrived safely already. Got lucky on the media mail gamble coming this way, too!
Thanks to Ri and everyone else for sending this book along, it looks very enjoyable.
A light read of a fascinating life. The years in France are the most interesting to me, the strong tradition and sense of community, both in the kitchen world and in general, no longer seem to exist. That Pepin was adequately trained and self-sufficient at 16 to run his own restaurant is mind-boggling!
To TOC, 8/25/07.

Gratefully received at TOC luncheon - looking forward to it!
