I received this from Amazon today from Jenn, my SILTB, as my Birthday present. It is just perfect! I first read this book as a bookring (courtesy of Gooner!) and am pleased to have my own copy - thanks Jenn :-)

I've just re-read this wonderful book and watched the DVD. Both caused tears but also lots of smiles. This is such a lovely book and Helene has a really intimate, funny writing style. The film (with Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins) is spot on. Slow moving, charming and gives a real sense of post war London. I felt quite homesick :-)
