I remember something about the Necropolis Railway being in the Fortean Times magazine and/or website - new interest possibly kick-started by the publication of this novel a few years back..looks good.

Now having read this book I'm a little dissapointed that it wasn't half the dark mystery-thriller that I was led to expect by the blurbs etc. Really a fairly gentle tale (with occasional death) of a young rural man's eyes being opened by working on the railways in the big city.

Picked up at Alva Rados last night. Looked interesting, Non Fiction has warned me not as Dark as cover suggests but I am looking forward to reading it all the same.

I agree with non-fiction more of a snapshot of working on the railways in the early 20th century than a dark mystery. Still a good read - the working conditions and the wages are a reminder that life is better now 100 years on - it is :-)I think :-)

A very odd book. The railway history stuff was kind of interesting, but I have to agree with the other journallers that the mystery wasn't that exciting - it was mostly just confused.
