5 out of 10

Reeling with heartache after her husband abandons her for a younger woman, Adrienne Willis flees to the small coastal town of Rodanthe, North Carolina, to tend a friend's inn. Here she hopes to find the tranquillity she so desperately needs to rethink her life. But almost as soon as she gets there, a major storm is forecast and a guest named Dr. Paul Flanner arrives. At fifty-four, Paul has just sold his medical practice and is trying to escape his own shattered past. Now, with a fierce nor'easter closing in, two wounded people will turn to each other for comfort - and in one weekend set in motion feelings that will resonate throughout the rest of their lives.

2.11.2005 I received this via post today. Thank you for fulfilling my wish, Flicki!

25.7.2009 Finally I get around reading this book - thanks to Tarna's Mt. TBR challenge :). This was short to read and typical Sparks book. Romantic, sad, far from a classic, yet gets you in a content and peaceful mood.

Thanks Hetku77! A book from my wishlist, with an interesting challenge too! I will certainly participate in that. Might take me a bit longer to read than a month, since the bookrings start arriving all at once again...

Edit March 8, 2010: It certainly took longer than a month! Finished the book yesterday and I agree with Hetku77. Quite an easy and pleasant read, with just the right amount of romance. And it shows that love is for all ages. What I do find interesting, is that a man can write this way!
I will try and find a next reader for this soon.
