Prozac Nation is a glimpse into the mind of a chronically depressed young woman and her struggles to cope, self medicate, and eventually try mainstream therapy to to manage her condition. It's a little dated now, but still an important story. The only way to combat depression is to bring it out of the darkness of secrecy and shame, and books like this are a step in the right direction. I'd love to see more like this from diverse writers, too. The conversation about depression needs more voices.
