Quite a nice little read. No earth shattering philosophy though. Has just been made into a movie and was released only on Foxtell.

Picked up at the May Meet-up. I enjoyed reading this book. Didn't know that a movie had been made about it though - I would be interested to see what they made of it. Like Arietty I didn't find any earth-shattering philosophy, just a nice story.

Journal Entry 5 by S-Andrea from Brisbane, Queensland Australia on Saturday, July 02, 2005
Our bookclub discussion: quite a comforting book - that everyone's life is important, even if we are not sure how we fit into the big scheme of things. We were wondering if there is any kind of Eastern philosophy behind the idea of 5 people being influential in one's life - it wasn't a Christian based explanation of what happens after you die - Heaven and Hell, Judgement Day and all that. Overall, easy to read and quite enjoyed by our bookclub.
