Chicken Soup for the Canadian Soul

I received this book as a gift from robert-n-kate, for which I thank them wholeheartedly. This wasn't as good as some of the other Chicken Soup books, but I enjoyed it.

This was the first "Chicken Soup" book I've ever read, and it had a lot of good stories in it. The first section in particular made me feel proud to be Canadian, but then again I always have been. I noticed there was no mention of the Calgary Flames' heartwarming Stanley Cup victory over the legendary Montreal Canadiens in 1989, or that the Flames are the only team other than Montreal to win the Cup in the fabled Montreal Forum, but I'm sure they're saving it for Volume 2.
I'll be passing this on to CalgaryKitty very shortly.

I got this book today from Hawaiianheat. I'm looking forward to reading it. I have read the 3rd, 5th, and Women's editions and enjoyed them. I hope this book is just as good. =^..^=
Trade paperback. 383 pages.
Better have a box of kleenex handy when you read this. It has taken me a while to read this as I like to just read a few stories a night before bed. This edition had too many sports stories for my taste. I like the anecdotes with animals better. Don't miss "My Dad and Little Joe" or "The Seal". =^..^=

I have read the Chicken Soup for The Writer's Soul and Chicken Soup For the Woman's Soul so it will be interesting to read Chicken Soup For The Canadian Soul. Actually, its quite funny I am reading this one because it was an edition I had submitted a story to but as I will soon read, it's not in. :-) However, I am curious where Ifyouknew hid this book for Hawainheat to find... Hmmm... Once read, I will release to Biamar as agreed.
Cheers.

I tend to agree with early entries of this book. It wasn't one of the best Chicken Soup books that I have read. Perhaps the large sport content was what lost my interest. However, there are some wonderful stories scattered throughout that made it a nice read for me. The thing about a Chicken Soup Book.. is that if you aren't interested in the current story, you can always move on to the next one and there is always one guaranteed to pull at the heartstrings or make you chuckle. Thanks for the opportunity ...

This arrived today, thanks onesmartcookie! I look forward to reading it.
im so excited that this book travelled all the way accross the country to see me. I'll enjoy being the last on the list because then I can set this book free in the lovely city of Halifax. Thanks.
I have to concur with everyone who has come before me - a few real tear jerkers and far to many sports tales. I think what bothered me was that so many of the tales seems so self-serving. " I am good person because I overcame my disappointment about not winning an Olympic medal". Not nearly as touching as the tales on new immigrants or families whose children had died unexpectedly and were overcoming the loss with grace and dignity! Still, it's been very fun to be a part of this book chain and I know on whose desk I will leave this. Thanks everyone.
Sending this off to from-the-coast so it can visit some Kingston bookcrosers.
Just received this in the mail from justabookhound.........THANKS! So nice to be added to this bookray. I've only just flipped through now and I think I'll like some of these clips. Will read some more and post when I've finished. Then I'll find someone to send this to.

I completely forgot to journal having recieved this book....sheeeesh what a dummy. It contained a hard copy of on-the-coast's entry for the photo almbum project and because the project was on hold over the summer I had set the book aside before journalling and so not only forgot the book but also that others might be waiting for it.
I am moving it to the top of the heap and will get it on to Lady Gothic ASAP.
