Interpreter of Maladies

This recent winner of the Pulitzer Prize is one of the best short story collections I've ever read. Lahiri's characters are beautifully drawn with both love and a canny eye. The tales wonderfully confide the complexities of immigration and exile. Lahiri's territory is India and America and all the emotional space between the two. This is an elegant new voice, one I'd like to share in bookcrossing.

Thank you for this lovely RABCK and for the nice postcard! As soon as I finish reading my rings/rays I'll get to it - it looks lovely!
1 April 06: finished reading the book yesterday evening. Most of the stories were really nice and I am glad that I read this book; if it weren't for bookcrossing I wouldn't have heard about this author.
This book is now reserved for PepperVL as part of a swap.
18 April 06: mailed today to Pepper! Enjoy:)

This arrived today. Thanks!
Hmm. Well, this book isn't what I'd normally read... and it's not something that made me want to pick up more books like it either. However, there were some interesting glimpses into Indian culture, and I can definitely see why other people really enjoy it. It was a bit depressing for me, however.
Still, it was a good experience. ;)
