I've been having trouble deciding what I thought of these stories. The writing was fantastic - wonderful phrasings, and deeply descriptive - but I wasn't so sure about the structuring of the stories. The first for some reason took me ages to read, as I just couldn't get into it. Yet, when I finished it I knew it was a piece of writing that would stick with me for a long time. The second was gently amusing, but the third I just didn't get - it felt unfinished or unbalanced or something. I'm not sure what it was, but it just didn't work for me at all. A pity, really, that the collection finished on that note, because it kind of spoilt the impact of the earlier two.

Grabbed from the paws of FutureCat as she was passing. Very short stories. Not badly written at all. Best story has to be the strange and creepy "Miriam". It stays in your mind long after the others have melted away. Might provoke me enough into reading more of Truman Capote (TC ... 'Top Cat'??? ... nahhh ... couldn't be :-S)
