May 28 2005: 2 catches, 2 members and a new pair of wings!
This week was momentous for my two catches and 2 new members! A book I released in Manchester in April as part of the BookAid International Challenge was picked up by brainey-rainey who read it, journalled it and then joined! The second catch was from one of the Teddy Summer 2005 releases! I'd hardly got home from releasing, when the alert email told me that ngriis had found and journalled the book! Finally, I got to see the premiere of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It was FAB! Read my review here.
I have a new bookring open --> Therapy: David Lodge If you want to join, just PM me!

May 21 2005: Don't Panic!
Excitment is mounting in the nice-cup-of-tea household as the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Movie draws ever nearer! Next Thursday (well, early Friday morning) the film has its premiere at the Kino im Hauptbahnhof film festival in Zurich. The main hall of the railway station turns into a cinema, and I aim to release lots of Douglas Adams books as part of the HHGG themed release!

May 16 2005: Meetup & Signing Up!
I went to my first Zurich Meetup on May 10th and had a great time! Click here for KatColorado's report! This week I also signed up on 43things.com which is helping me to sort my life out! Click here for my page. I've set myself up on Livejournal, here I am!
Saturday May 7th: Happy Birthday to onesmartcookie! Oh, and me!
May 7 2005: Basel, Birthday & Hot Thread!
My post on fast readers made it to No. 2 on hot threads, which got me ridiculously over-excited!
It was great to meet so many German, Austrian and Swiss Bookcrossers at the Basel Meetup on May 6th - my photos are here! I released 5 books, but then bought 2 from the Bookfair, caught 3 from other bookcrossers, and bought 11 from the Basel Buecher-Brocky!!
My Birthday (May 7th) started with a bang - Thanks to KatColorado for the Birthday chocolate and champagne which was consumed on the train home after the Meetup in Basel!

May 2 2005: All quiet on the bookcrossing front!
A very quiet week I'm afraid, not much to relate! I'm looking forward to meeting other Swiss, German and international Bookcrossers at the Basel Meetup this Friday (May 6th) and we're visiting Buch Basel, so watch this space for my releases!

April 25 2005: Bookcrossing in the UK!

I released 9 books in Manchester, Bristol and London for the BookAid International Release Challenge & helped my Mum (Mrswren) and my sister (Katethebass) to start registering and releasing! I also met up with 3 BCUK bookcrossers in the London OBCZ (The Stamford Arms) and had a fantastic evening of books, drinks and chocolate :-)

April 20 2005: I got winged!
How exciting - somebody gave me wings! Thank you, whoever you are. I passed another milestone, registering 100 books and have been releasing books in the UK for the BookAid International Release Challenge. More news when I get back to Zurich next week...

April 9 2005: Book buying Saturday

I told myself I was just going to "check out" the second hand bookstore, that KatColorado had told me about. Just wanted to see where it was, it wouldn't even be open at 4 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon..... I came, I saw, I conquered and bought 22 books from the Buecher Brocky! The books were *very* cheap, but I think I've spent this week's pocket money now :-( It's in a good cause, since I'm going to IKEA on Monday to take part in the Worldwide IKEA Release Challenge with Sunneschii and KatColorado. I'm back in the UK next week, so will release a few books for the Book Aid International campaign. Other than that, I've nearly finished writing my literature review, so it's been a good week :-)

April 4 2005: Der Fruehling ist da Spring has arrived!

Zurich is sunny and spring like, and I just had to take a photo of the beautiful cherry blossom trees at the end of my street! I got my first catch this week, saw the release alert, rushed to the Hauptbahnhof, and found The Trouble with Single Women waiting for me (courtesy of KatColorado !) All my bookrings are travelling nicely, and I've just opened my first German bookring Wunde Punkte. I also did my first trade this week, Ballet Shoes for Anna went to Lyzzybee in the UK and in return I got Playing Away by Adele Parks, very exciting :-)

March 28 2005: Lots of sending & receiving.
The writing desk in my study has become a temporary bookshelf, with books coming in and going out - I love it! I received two books this week, as well as The Red Tent bookring & I started a new bookring for Jennifer Government (Max Barry). I also sent my first RABCK and have negotiated a few trades - more on them next week! The Zurich City bookgroup went well, click here to read about our discussion on the "Curious Incident of the dog in the night-time".

March 21 2005: Quiet Week!
Quite a quiet bookcrossing week! I released a few books and finally met KatColorado in Zurich HB for a nice cup of tea! I'm preparing for the Zurich city bookgroup next week, as I'm leading the discussion on The curious incident of the dog in the night-time, so I'm excited to see how that goes! Just started a second bookring for Timbuktu: Paul Auster. It's a great (and quick) read, so PM me if you're interested!

March 14 2005: The serendipity of bookcrossing
My first ever catch was someone's first find! I released two books last Friday evening at Zurich main railway station as I was rushing to catch my train to Bonn and both books were found and journalled! My first ever "catch" was caught by ScarletBea in Zurich and this was her first "find"! The second book was picked up an anonymous finder who and she has now registered as Layaali. How cool is that?
I posted my first bookring off today. I've had a fantastic response to my Beyond Chocolate - understanding Swiss culture Bookring, with 15 bookcrossers in the UK, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, USA & Greece! I'm hoping the ring isn't too large, I'll see how it goes and buy a second copy if necessary. I also received my first ever bookring. Cloud Atlas was a fantastic read on the train to Bonn and back and I've now passed it on...

March 9 2005: One week anniversary!
To celebrate one week with bookcrossers, I'm starting a bookring for Beyond Chocolate - understanding Swiss culture: Margaret Oertig Davidson. See below for details. The book is a fascinating look into multi-faceted Swiss society and culture, and is full of stories and examples. Well written and well worth a read!

March 8 2005: I thought my book pile would be going down, not up, with bookcrossing!
I had a very productive book day today - sent one book to a non bookcrosser, hand delivered another book to a member of the Zurich book group, wild released two books in Zurich, and found Cafe Gloria (Zurich's OBCZ) and released my last book. Hurrah I thought, five down..
But then I picked up 3 from the OBCZ, found a David Lodge in my local Caritas (charity shop) and bought a book from a bookshop to start a swiss book ring. OOPS! Fun anyway... Now sitting down to journal my catches and am drinking a... nice-cup-of-tea
