Thanks so much for sending this to me SirRoy, especially as it's such a big book to post (1111 pages)! This one of the BBC Big Read top 100 books that I'm working my way through.

9 out of 10

It took me a while to get through this massive book but it was worth it. I've never seen the film so didn't know what to expect, apart from the fact that someone was going to say 'I don't give a damn' at some point! The main character is incredibly selfish and all the major characters are on the side of Confederates who are pro slavery, but the story is written so well that I found myself routing for her and them all the way through. It was a good read and also taught me a little about the American Civil War which I previously knew nothing about.

Edit: I also love the bookcrossing label in this book - "Tending our Garden". I've only seen it this once so far and its now one of my favourites. Oh, and the book cover is one of my favourites too!

Thank you so much for sending this to me! =) I am very excited about reading it. I've had a quick flick through and I can't believe the font is so small and there are so many pages (in a good way!). I'm not sure how long it'll take me to get round to and finish, but thank you for sending such a big book =)
