I really enjoyed reading this, although as someone earlier said its very obvious why lots of people would not find it to their taste! It's a very interesting comment on the American dream and I loved the black humour ("as your attorney, I advise you to tell me where you put the goddamn mescaline"), the randomness and the great illustrations by Ralph Steadman. Like many others I can't believe this is non-fiction... I wonder what was true, what was hallucinated and what imagined after gaps in memory? I'm definitely going to look into Thompson's other writing. Think I'll post this on to someone who has it on their wish list - I need to make sure this chain of readers keeps going. Thanks again Sharun for sending it to me- I really enjoyed it.

Aha, so I can see why this book looks a little old and tired ... because of having so many readers :)
