This is a good book to give you a very brief overview of just about every notable era/event in history. It's aimed at kids but I found it useful as a starting point for packing my brain with all sorts of info.

It's about my level :-) I think I need to read it again though.
One thing that I find weird about reading children's books is that you can't really skim. There aren't that many extra words, sentences and facts in it. I'm missing stuff because I'm not giving the proper amount of time to each sentence.
