Picked up at bcie meeting yesterday.
This is the second Cadfael book I've read, though I can't remember which the other one was, or even if it's before or after this one.
I know next to nothing about this time period so the background events with Maud and Stephen mean absolutely nothing to me, but they don't need to.
I'm beginning to think that all male medieval detectives are Welsh.

excellent story in the Brother Cadfael series. A monk who is trying to atone for something he did when younger is badly injured, confesses to having given herbs from Cadfael's collection to procure an abortion with his girlfriend, which then kills her. He thinks that this is a deathbed confession, but he lives. He goes on a pilgrimage as part of his penance and what he finds out changes his life.

RELEASE NOTES:
Had a drink with a friend in the Library Bar tonight and saw this book on a shelf with some others. As I've already read it, I handed it to my friend, who will probably bring it to the UK.
I looked through some other books, but none of them appeared to be bookcrossing books.

I loved this series when I was younger! Came across this book in the second hand book shop in front of the cake cafe in Dublin. Now I want to re-read the rest of the series!!
