Journal Entry 1 by LGinder on Wednesday, April 20, 2005
In the quiet Amish community of Hickory Hollow, Pennsylvania, time has stood still while cherished traditions and heartfelt beliefs have flourished. But a secret lies buried that could shatter the tranquility its inhabitants have grown to love.

When Katie Lapp stumbles upon a satin infant gown in the dusty leather trunk in her parents' attic, she knows it holds a story she must discover. Why else would her Amish mother, a plain and simple woman who embraces the Old Order laws, hide the beautiful baby dress in the attic?

On the eve of Katie's wedding to widower Bishop John, startling news staggers out of her anguished parents, and nothing prepares Katie for the devastation their confession brings. Feeling betrayed, Katie watches as the only life she has ever known begins to unravel, leaving in its wake a furrow of pain...and a future of hope.

Got this in the mail today! Can't wait to start it, but I do have a ring in front of it. Thanks LGinder for sharing!! I love the "Abram's Daughters" series.

Journal Entry 5 by mysteryfan03 from Moberly, Missouri USA on Tuesday, May 17, 2005
I am not sure yet if I like this as well as the Abram's Daughter series, but it was a good read. I don't want to give any spoilers away, but I did not see the ending coming. I am wondering which character the next book will follow. I am hoping that it still has a lot of the Amish community in it. Thanks so much for sharing this!!! Now, I need to look for The Confession!

Journal Entry 6 by WarEagle78 from Opelika, Alabama USA on Saturday, May 28, 2005
This one arrived in Alabama today - will journal again when read. By the way, the decorated envelope was GREAT, mysteryfan03!

Journal Entry 7 by WarEagle78 from Opelika, Alabama USA on Wednesday, June 1, 2005
I had previously read the Abram's Daughters series by the same author, and many of the same themes of growing up Amish apply. This book did have some different twists in the character development, and I did enjoy following it. I'm anxious to read the next one in the series now!

Mailed to next reader on list on 6/18/05.

Journal Entry 11 by Megi53 from Danville, Virginia USA on Saturday, July 9, 2005
I have been wanting to read one of Lewis' Amish books ever since I joined the Crossings book club and keep seeing them on the selection list. (I love her kids' books, too.)

Arrived today and I have 2 ahead of it, but I'm on vacation so I should be able to start it next week.

Journal Entry 12 by Megi53 from Danville, Virginia USA on Thursday, July 21, 2005
I read the entire story in one evening! It reminded me of a Belva Plain novel except that the good and evil in all the characters wasn't as clear-cut. Everyone in The Shunning had more shades of gray in his or her personality.

The Daniel/Katie story was wonderfully romantic. Wondering what's going to happen to Laura will have me buying the second book for sure!

ETA: mailed to Nebraska yesterday.

Received in the mail yesterday. I have 1 ring I need to read first and then I'll get to this one. Can't wait to start the series!

Journal Entry 17 by cowgirl-up from Springfield, Ohio USA on Friday, October 28, 2005
I stayed up late last night to finish this one and I was almost sad to see it end. It was sort of a cross between Little House on the Prarie and The Crucible, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. I identified a lot with Katie and throughout the book I just wanted to reach out and hug her. I'm looking forward to completing the series (book #2 is on its way to me) and to reading more by this author. Thanks LGinder for starting these rings!
