Synopsis: Chloe's fed up of making wedding dresses and Philip has got problems at work. Hugh is not a happy man. His wife Amanda is more interested in the new kitchen than in him. They all need a holiday. Mutual friend Gerard loans each couple his villa in Spain, unfortunately it's in the same week.

Just arrived this morning from angellica, thank you.
A good light summer read. I read it in an evening (well I did stay up quite late to finish it!) A couple of unexpected twists but otherwise a comfy chick lit. Sending off to Michelle next.
I almost forgot about this bookring :) but was pleasantly surprised to received this book though! I'll read it after the book I'm currently reading and pass it along shortly!
This was certainly a nice and light read, I really enjoyed it and finished it in a day or so as well. The end was not quite what I had expected, but a good end nevertheless :) I love her other books as well under her other name (Sophie Kinsella). I'll send this out to Katybean as soon as I have her address.

I really enjoyed this book (also found it a quick read, took less than 24 hours LOL).
I have read all the Sophie Kinsella books, and this is the first Madeleine Wickham one I have read. I found the style completely different (S.K. are based on young women, and M.W. on married 30 somethings), but still easy to read.
I would have liked a bit more confrontation at the end with Gerard, I think he got off lightly LOL!!
Part of me wanted more of a romance to develop, but was satisfied with the ending - hard saying what I want to say without spoiling it for others LOL.
I have just pm'd Pink Manager for their address (are you really only 15??)
Thanks for sharing!

PS. Have been to Puerto Banus a few times now and love it!!

Book is now on its way to Athens to visit PinkManager!!
I received the book today.MAybe I'll start it next week after finishing the book I'm reading now. Thanks!
I started the book on Monday 2/1.When I first saw it I thought it was going to be a comedy, maybe boring and nothin' special. But when I started it I found out it was not a comedy, but a very interesting "adventure".I found also that it was very easy-reading and it was a very nice surprise,so I finished it today,4/1!!
As soon as I get her addy I'll send the book to LindyLouMac!

This arrived safely just a couple of days ago and I have read and enjoyed already! Thanks to angellica for starting the ring and to PinkManager for sending on to me. I have now read all of Madeleine Wickham's novels up to and including Sleeping Arrangements. Personally I think she is another of the better chick lit writers but I do not like the titles she writes as Sophie Kinsella anything like as much. Maybe it is an age thing, as the latter novels are about younger heroines!! Ha, Ha. Will now be on its way to my bookcrossing friend Amberkatze as soon as I can get to the Post Office.

I am reading another book right now but this one will be next! I hope that I will be able to send it on to the next person asap. I already have blaisezabini12 address somewhere so I am sure the book will be on it's way again really quickly!

I really liked this Madeleine Wickham book. It had a nice story, was quick to read and kept me interested. I really can't accept that this is the same woman who writes as Sophie Kinsella. Her writing style and the stories are so completely different!
I will look forward to reading more of her books in the future either as Madeleine or Sophie! However this one is going off to Blaisezabini12 as soon as I have a chance to go to the post office!

8 February 06: I didn't expect to finish this so soon! But yesterday evening I was fed up of learning for the Friday exam so I decided to go to bed early and read some chapters...well, I didn't go to sleep until I finished the book:)
Like people already mentioned it's different from what this author writes under the name of Sophie Kinsella, but different in a good way. I can't say I've become attached to any character, but I liked the way in which the plot was solved.
I have pmed the next reader on the list for the address.

This is the 2nd Maddie W. book I've read - Cocktails for 3 being the other, and although I love her writing as Sophie Kinsella I have a lot of time for her more "serious" stories.
Like Katybean I think the ending was a bit abrupt and it could have done with a few more pages, just to see Gerard get his just desserts! LOL But still a good light read. :o)
Will post to Janiemac75 as soon as I get her address.

I'm just about to PM WelshHelen for address.
Arrived safely today. Thank you to angellica and janiemac75. I have a couple of ring books ahead of it but should get to it very soon.
I enjoyed this book and as I've only read two of her "Sophie Kinsella" books I had no real preconceptions. Although I didn't particularly care for any of the characters (Phillip was my favourite) they were well-written and I particularly liked the fact that the horrid Gerard was 'off screen' throughout the book. Mind you, he did deserve a come-uppance which I'd liked to have seen :-) I was hoping that there'd be a story behind the obvious dislike of the local lad to those staying at the villa but nothing developed, unfortunately.
A light, easy read but not one that's going to stay with me for any length of time. I'll be reading more of her books, though.

Just received this in the mail today - fastest trip from the UK I've ever seen! Can't wait to read it.
This is the third Madeleine Wickham book I've read, and I must admit that I prefer Sophie Kinsella's writing style (although not always the repetitive plots). Madeleine Wickham books remind me of the more old fashioned chick lit books (back before they were called chick lit) - not the bodice rippers with Fabio on the cover, but the women's novels my mom used to read.
While Sophie Kinsella's protagonists tend to be younger, less sure of themselves, and more unsettled with their careers and relationships, Madeleine Wickham's heroines are a bit older and more established in their lives. Sophie Kinsella's main characters are still trying to find themselves, while Madeleine Wickham's characters are taking stock of their situations to decide if they've made a wrong turn somewhere.
There's nothing wrong with either of these styles/books, but I prefer books like Can You Keep a Secret? Although I like the issues that the Madeleine Wickham characters explore in theory, in practice I find the light frothy Sophie Kinsella books more enjoyable, perhaps because the Madeleine Wickham books remind me of reading my mom's old books when I was 12.
Sleeping Arrangements is similar to the two previous Madeleine Wickham novels I have read (The Gatecrasher and Cocktails for Three) in that it has a more serious tone and focuses on adult issues. Two families end up sharing the same villa in Spain due to their mutual friend promising it to both of them during the same week. Instead of wacky hijinks ensuing, the two couple's relationships with each other as well as the other individuals bring up questions about happiness, fidelity, and family. Although some of the plot was predictable, I was pleasantly surprised by the ending. In short, this was a quick read that was a nice way to pass a few hours but I won't be seeking out my own copy.

Arrived over the weekend!
I liked this book even better than the first M. Wickham I read (The Gatecrasher). While I agreed with everyone else who felt Gerard deserved a comepuppance, it didn't really bother me that he didn't get one. In my mind I can imagine his reaction to...well, those of you who have read so far know what I mean! I really felt for Chloe having to deal with her son and Jenna. I have a 16 year old, although mine is a daughter, but I can still emphathize with Chloe! I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of the Wickham books!
ETA Mailed to next person 11/20/06.

Just received and started reading it. Will read and send off to it's next stop as soon as possible. Thanks!
Finished a couple days ago. Was very similar to the 2 other books that I read from this author. Very similar themes. The whole secrets, affairs, and the things the kids do behind the parent's backs ... are in all 3 of the books, that I can see. Good book though. Will send off as soon as possible.
I thought this book was lost. Toxickittikiss PMed me about it in January, but apparently didn't mail it until about 3 weeks ago. I'm glad to finally receive it, and will read ASAP.
Wow, what a well-traveled book! I enjoyed it as a good, light read. I do, like some others, wish Gerard had gotten in more trouble at the end for his meddling, but such as it is with some people--they never get what they deserve.
Sent on to momofap today.
Sent on to momofap today.
This book arrived in the mail today! I am sitting down to start reading it tonight. I hope to have the book finished by June 12th. Is there a reason that I am listed twice on this ring? I really only want to read the book once:)
This was a fast pace book that had some interesting twists and turns. I really enjoyed the character of Jenna. She was a nanny and did her job well, she knew when to let a secret slip and when to hold her tongue. Even though Phillip tried to relax, he failed to and that fact made him unlikable to me. I might in the future try another book by this author. I will send this book to the next person as soon as I have an address.
Arrived safely. Lots on my plate....promise to try to get to it soon.
Going to try and start tonight. I have read alot of 'chick lit' lately, hope I am not burnt out. If I cant get into it fairly quickly I will forward it on.
Couldnt get into it. Sent 2nd pm to next in line. Hope to get out soon.
