The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference - RING
6 journalers for this copy...
This is the sort of non-fiction I love. Take an idea, and relate it to lots of different things.
I don't think bookcrossing has reached tipping point (yet). After that, you'll be fairly sure that people know what's going on when they see a book lying around.
Anyway, yet another book I want to re-read later so am sending out as a ring.
Want to join?
PM me your approximate location and mailing prefences.
Please journal when you receive it, read it and post it. Try not to keep it too long. Thanks.
PM the next person to get their address.

Sorry for not journalling when I got this, which was just before I went away. I read this book while travelling to and from a conference, and not only was it enjoyable in itself but some of the concepts are very relevant for some aspects of the conference (getting people to change their behaviour in the face of climate change), so it was doubly interesting. I'm going to check out some of the references and maybe quickly re-read one or two sections, but then I shall pass it on. An excellent, accessible book, which opened my eyes to some aspects of social/collective behaviour I hadn't really considered before. Thanks nut!
Got this in the post today. I can't remember how I came across this book, but the concept sound intriguing so I'm excited about reading it.
I'm part way through another ring at the moment and then I'll start this one.

Wanted to give an update on this book as I've had it a while. Things have been hectic as I'm getting married soon, but it is all starting to calm down. I haven't forgotten it and I'm about a quarter of the way through. I'll try and finish it as soon as possible and move it on.
I'm making my way through this book and really enjoying it. However I just wanted you to know that I used some of the ideas in a meeting last week. We were trying to come up with ideas of how to raise awareness of a Government scheme and I suggested we were contacting the wrong people, we needed to find the few people who would make the difference.
A fascinating and well researched book on what causes epidemics or fads. It includes examples from the start of the American civil war to Sesame Street. The information that made the biggest impact on me was, that in all examples included, it was a small thing that led to the epidemic; but it was the right small thing.
I can tell that some of these concepts are relevant to my job of encouraging people to reduce their negative environmental impact by changing their behaviour, and I hope to make use of them in the future.

Posted to oneirus today (surface mail I'm afraid as I had lots of other parcels going out at the same time)
Received today. I have a few other bookrings books to finish first, and then I will start this one. Thanks!
This was a good read, and I think I may buy my own copy so that I can re-read and check out some of the references. Then I can try to incorporate more of the concepts into my own life or at least be able to recognize when I see them at work in the world.
I will be sending this off in the next few days to the next person after I get their address.

Oh my gosh! I'm horribly sorry, I thought I sent this a month ago before I moved, but I just found it in a box a few days ago. I sent it out on Friday.
Arrived just 5 minutes ago...safe and well after having been travelling for almost 4 months. This is definitely the book that has been travelling most in one go to me from the other side of the pond!
It's the 5th ring in a row, so it will take a while for me to get to read it, but I will soon contact the next in line for the address, so that at least there'll be no delay in sending it further once I'm done with it. Thanks to nut for sharing :)

One of the most interesting and intriguing non-fiction books read this year, and one that I will be getting a copy for my private library as well...thanks to nut for sharing :)
I cannot but confirm what has been said in the previous journal entries - and made me wonder about some actions taken by the local government when fighting crime, for example. Just recently there has been a BBC Nottingham scheme for the locals to nominate the worst graffiti-marked areas in the city and surrounding areas, with the idea of cleaning up the place, and who knows... hopefully the first step to improvement, especially with Nottingham being branded as a city where gun crime is big. Oh well...! Never trust surveys!
The book is ready to travel overseas once again...off in the mail today. Happy reading!

Satnam asked to be skipped. This one will be going home as well.
