Thoroughly enjoyable, incredibly readable and highly educational. This is the book you read if you have ever been curious about Geisha. Based on Liza Dalby's thesis and her time spent as a Geisha in Japan this really does open your eyes to another world. As this was based on a thesis, I expected the reading to be much more hard work but it was totally well written for the everyday reader like myself with little or no knowledge of Japanese culture.

This book is being sent to another Bookcrosser.

Thank you, inkognitoh! I got this book in today's mail, and I'm going to read it straight away. I am very curious about the geisha culture and this book is definitely a must read for me.
Btw, I *loved* the special edition bookcrossing bookplate!!! So beautiful! I'm all envious now :)

It's everything Inkognitoh has said it is. A very readable book, very enjoyable, full of the minute knowledge of japanese and geisha culture that only an insider can have.
It is definitely a must read for all of you that loved "Memoirs of a Geisha", or that ever had any interest in japanese culture.

Mailed the 13th June to Flaneuse.

5th August: ATTENTION! TRAGEDY!!
The book seems to be lost in the mail system between Flaneuse's home and mine. Therefore I have found a replacement book, one kindly offered by another BC member, scout77. I'll update this entry as the situation develops :)

September 13th: The replacement is now in my hands, and it will be mailed to Flaneuse asap. The new ID for the book is: Geisha
