I was amazed by how much I enjoyed re-reading Adrian Mole, and how funny it was! I must have first read it years ago as a teenager, and I don't think it was obvious to me then quite how brilliantly comic the book is, or how Townsend portrays Adrian, an 'intellectual' who is SO naiive and clueless! this beauty lies in his diary etnries which tell a true that he just doesn't or can't see - like the pregnancies of his Mum and his Dad's girlfiend! It also struck me how dysfunctional the family was and how much Adrian had to deal with. Fantastic ending, as Adrian finally loses his virginity!

Feel inspired to read her later Adrian novels! Adrian is such an inspired miz of naiive, emotional, political, confused genius!
