Journal Entry 1 by WillowSnow from Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset United Kingdom on Monday, April 04, 2005
I lost my copy of this book. I can't find it anywhere, so I bought this copy in a charity shop. After I have read it I am going to start a bookring with it. From the back: "One of the most talked about fictional debuts of recent years, White Teeth is a funny, generous, big-hearted novel, adored by critics and readers alike. Dealing - among many other things - with friendship, love, war, three cultures and three families over three generations, one brown mouse, and the tricky way the past has of coming back and biting you on the ankle, it it a life-affirming, riotous must-read of a book"

I was looking forward to reading this after hearing many good things about it for years! I did enjoy it but I found it quite a difficult read and hard to get into, but once I had it was good.

Journal Entry 7 by Icila from Nantes, Pays de la Loire France on Monday, November 21, 2005
It was difficult to get in , because of the writing "as the people usually speak", and it took me time to read but I enjoyed it. It's ready for lesezeichen.

Journal Entry 9 by Libahunt from Helsinki, Uusimaa Finland on Thursday, August 31, 2006
Apparently I managed to forget completely to register this book when I received it or I don't know what was going on when I tried to journal this. Couldn't find it from my list or anything... Anyway, I've read this now and don't wonder at all why it's been so praised. I didn't particulary like the ending but the story in itself grew so much during reading that I can't say anything but just sit silent afterwards.

Very interesting. An epic book that contemplates fate, faith and culture - I really enjoyed how the characters were constructed and revealed slowly. At times I felt like the book tried to cram too many themes in, but I guess that's how it reflects life as it really is. Thanks for sharing this WillowSnow :)

Update on the status of this book - I've tried contacting -Psyche- through both PM/ the forums to no avail. I've also had trouble contacting WillowSnow... so I'm going to try contacting legbamel now to keep the ring moving. I know the list says still-legbamel but there's no member by that name, and legbamel posted on the forum to join this bookring.

Wow - this got here really fast from Australia! It arrived yesterday. I just finished The Winds of War and will start this one right away. I'm very much looking forward to reading it. Thanks so much for sending it. I'll have to figure out where it is supposed to go after I've read it - I'd love to keep my shipping more "local" but if it's to go off to Italy then off it will go! I've PMed three times in the last three weeks for instructions on this one, as to whether -psyche- ought to have the book before I ask for an address in Italy, but I haven't gotten a reply. I'll have to post an ISO in the Rings and Rays forum to see if I can't figure out where it's supposed to go. I'd really like to get it moving again, as I'm feeling bad that it's been with me for so long, even though it hasn't even been a month!
