Rubaiyat of a Persian Kitten
13 journalers for this copy...
This was cute! Each page is a different misadventure of the kitten, written in a poetry/verse style. Pictures are all sketches, no photos, but the kitten is cute!
Though I have only had one bookring of all the ones I've started get back to me so far, I'm going to try again! I'm going to send this around and see if it comes back to me!
Bookring!

Mailed out today to Megi53 with another cat bookring! enjoy!
Came a few minutes ago and I certainly couldn't resist looking through it. Very amusing!
"'Twas that reviving herb, that Spicy Weed,
The Cat-Nip. Tho' 'tis good in time of need,
Ah, feed upon it lightly for who knows
To what unlovely antics it may lead."
Makes me want to read Omar Khayyam again!
Signed by the author, along with the neatest sketch of a cat hiding in cat-tails.

I thought about editing my previous journal entry before shaunesay saw it. Yes, I really DID think the author had sketched the cat in the cat-tails and signed the book.
But the back cover announced that this is a FACSIMILE of a 1904 book!
I enjoyed it very much; read it twice, in fact.
My favorite part was the previously quoted incident with the catnip. The picture that goes along with it is adorable!
The ending, which I won't give away, was precious. I thought it might be a sad ending.
Mailing to DP31 in just a second.

Received this yesterday. DP31 has already read and darlingd plans on reading today sometime.
How cute! While the persian kitten does not have a jug of wine and thou, it does have many adventures. Now to send it on to hk94.
Received from DP31 about a month ago. Due to family crisis, I was delayed in passing it on, so I apologize. Now off to glade1!
Received this in the mail today and read in one sitting. It's pretty cute but there's not all that much to it--I'm not sure what I expected. Perhaps it has been way too long since I read the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
My favorite verse (with a cute illustration too):
"Sometimes I think the Pussy-Willows grey
Are Angel Kittens who have lost their way,
And every Bulrush on the river bank
A Cat-Tail from some lovely Cat astray."
I will PM MollyGrue for an address to pass this along.

Really cute and sweet (but not too sweet) poem of a kitten's day. :) Read this while running around doing errands after picking this up, so reserved for the next reader.

Sent today. Happy reading!
Sent today. Happy reading!
Received this today, will start ASAP.
A very cute book, I loved the drawings more than the writing. The catnip one was funny, and true. A typical day in the life of a kitten. Sending to LLHCat tomorrow. Thanks for sharing!
Very sweet book with beautiful black and white drawings. Sorry I kept it so long- left town for medical treatment and forgot all about it. I will get it in the mail tomorrow.

Just arrived in the mail the other day. I'll read this soon, promise! *laughs*

Okay, I'm dreadful. I admit it. I did read the book, though! It was quite cute, and I enjoyed the old-fashioned turn of phrase and the adorable sketches. It's nice to have had a chance with it!
I have hunnyb's address, and will be shipping it to her either Friday or Monday. Thank you for your patience!

Received today along with lots of lovely piccies. Thanks!! :)
I must admit that I didn't know that "The Rubaiyat" was a famous poem. How uncultured...! So I probably missed out on the parody side of things but I found the illustrations and writing very sweet. My fave section is the catnip verse - see Megi53's entry for details :) I've PMd Tipperary for an address.
Received today... the pictures are lovely...
The book's great and I'm so late, just wanted to say sorry.. shame on me.. the book will leave next week..
Will mail back to shaunesay asap
