This was a cute book, quick to read, and occasionally good for a giggle. The writer's personal experiences were the best part of this book (her gig singing show tunes at her aunt's funeral was quite funny) and they are thrown in with the twelve steps necessary to embrace yourself as a Grrl Genius.

Just an update on the book, had been postponing reading it because I was last on the list. I see now that there are more people added, so I will bump it back up to the top, and will be the next one read and sent out. Thanks!

***ETA***11/22/06 Finishing last chapter now, should be mailed out after Thanksgiving.

First of all, I have to apologize for holding this book up. Although it has been my companion for quite a while, I just realized, while searching on this book to put my final journal entry, that I have another copy on my bookshelf. At least, this way, hubby is happy because I actually have "two down". Do any of you guys end up with multiple copies of a book? I guess Mt. TBR just gets out of hand and reproduces when you are not looking.

As far as the book is concerned, I was a bit disappointed. I guess I was looking more for a celebration of womanhood than an obsession with the author's butt. I'm glad Michon is happy in her mediocrity, but I guess I was a bit turned off by her ramblings on her divorce, her liposuction, etc. Her crazy old lady schtick was good, but not nearly long enough. The one part that got me laughing was the calls from the author's church lady to her mother for the bake sale. I guess I found the book to be too disconnected and maybe I was looking for something a bit less lighthearted. Not a bad book, but not "great" on my scale either. I will be mailing it out this weekend.

This book was a quick read, and had some good laugh out loud moments. Some of the stories were great! This is a good solid 7.

I am looking forward to reading this book. I tried Mama Geena and have been a little disappointed. I have high hopes for Grrl Genius

Journal Entry 18 by Enidq on Friday, March 9, 2007
Maybe I took the book a little too seriously but after a few chapters I really just wanted to put the book down and move on. I was actually repulsed by it. I am all for Grrl power, just not Ms. Michon's version of it.

I guess since I am at the end of this list this book will now find its way home. Thank you for offering your book.
