Cat Who Went To Paris, The
7 journalers for this copy...
This is such a wonderful cat book! Anyone who has ever fallen hook, line and sinker for a little furry face will enjoy this wonderful memoir about a man and his cat.
From the jacket flap:
"The Cat Who Went to Paris introduces the world to Norton, an extraordinary animal whose feline charms, and unique relationship with the author, will delight cat lovers--and even cat haters--everywhere.
"Peter Gethers us surprised one day when his girlfriend presents him with a small, furry gray kitten, soon named Norton. Sensing immediately that he will have no trouble wrapping the cosmopolitan book editor and screenwriter around his little paw, Norton sets about taking over Gether's apartment--and life.
"Soon Norton begins to travel the globe, first on short trips to Fire Island, where he learns to take long walks on the beach, then to Paris (via the Concorde, of course), where the staff at the ritzy Tremoille Hotel tends to his every whim, and then to other exotic and normally uncatlike places..."

First, I should note that this book originally belonged to Hilariter. She let me borrow it and when I went to return it, suggested that I register it. So, thanks, Hilariter!
Second, It's off to Australia today--mailed via USPS, shouldn't take too long to get to hunnyb! Enjoy!

Yipee! Received the book today. Looking forward to reading it. My baby kitty is also very curious about it. Plan to appropriate the bee bookmark that was included (thanks!) and replace it with a cat bookmark :)
This was a wonderful book. I now love my kitty even more (if that's possible) - although she's not as adorable as Norton, the star of the book. Enjoy!! :) Thanks for sharing this book - now being sent to catsalive (with a cat bookmark in place of the bee bookmark...)
I received this yesterday & am now half way through. I just got to the part where his cat-hating father finally saw the light - I love a convert. I truly dislike people who say they hate cats - I can't see any reason for it. Fair enough if you don't particularly like them (although very odd), but to HATE them is ridiculous. You cannot like animals & hate cats. Too often people anthropomorphise animals & give them human traits - deceitful?, sly? - which is stupidity in it's higher form. I've always loved cats & all animals - I even like snakes, although I'm not keen on spiders (OK, not animals) & rats. I will never be able to see why liking dogs precludes one from liking cats. I have both & we all live in a kind of harmony - as long as Jeany doesn't run (of course, Sherry has to chase her if she does).
Yes, it was all good & left me wanting more. Norton sounds like a doll.
Just awaiting MaryZee's address for its return to USA.

Received in the mail today. I have several other bookrings here right now, but will start on this as soon as I can and update this entry when I do.

I am totally charmed - I want a Scottish Fold too :(
An acquaintance of mine has two of these wonderful cats. I've met them briefly, and was totally captivated. I'm a cat lover, but my cat is very aloof (typical cat behavior). There's something about this breed that makes them just want to be around people. We used to have a cat that adopted us as a stray, he was a lover, but not the one we have now. If Folds weren't so expensive, I'd have two!
Sending this off to Weebaby on Monday 5/9. Thanks for sharing FortyToo!

Received on Wednesday, May 12. The little kitty bookmark inside is tres cute. (see how I worked the French in there?)
I truly enjoyed this book. I even made my son a little annoyed by keeping on laughing out loud.
How I long to have a cat with a personality like that! He is truly unique. There are so many things I liked about this book, but some I could never duplicate (Can you imagine someone ahving a cat loose on a plane in this day and age? People would freak out over allergies; although I loved the mention of the man whose allergies were fine until he found out about kitty!) If I ever see it in the book store, I will definately pick it up to buy, but I will send it on a Ray around the world!

Received in the mail yesterday. Thanks! It's in line behind two other bookring books, but both of them will probably be fast reads.
Just finished this fabulous book! It is funny and touching, well-written, and just plain fun. I have never had a cat as easygoing as Norton and it's hard to imagine.
I did have a cat that loved to take rides, though. I started putting him in my bicycle basket when he was a kitten, and eventually he would ride anything: wheelbarrow, people's shoulders, etc. More than once we had a visitor get halfway home from our house and be startled by something furry touching them--just Billy along for the ride! I also had a cat who was very friendly toward strangers. When we moved into our current house, I met two neighbors within two days who said, "your cat came in our house." He would just go in any open door and expect to be welcomed.
I would love to meet a Scottish fold. I never have bought pure-bred animals because there are so many "mutts" out there needing homes, but this breed sounds like fun.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story of Norton and Peter. I'm interested in reading one of Gethers's novels, too.
I will send this off as soon as I hear from Ramya, whom I have PMed for an address.
Update: Mailed to Ramya on 7-12-05.

This arrived in Saturday's mail. I'm looking forward to reading it!
This copy of Norton's adventures made it home safe and sound today, after an exciting trip to Australia and several different states in the U.S!
Glad this was a successful ring! But this book's travels aren't finished quite yet...
