Description from Amazon.com
Is there such thing as a Western Taoist? Benjamin Hoff says there is, and this Taoist's favorite food is honey. Through brilliant and witty dialogue with the beloved Pooh-bear and his companions, the author of this smash bestseller explains with ease and aplomb that rather than being a distant and mysterious concept, Taoism is as near and practical to us as our morning breakfast bowl. Romp through the enchanting world of Winnie-the-Pooh while soaking up invaluable lessons on simplicity and natural living.

Received this week from the "New Age" bookrelay.

Very insightful. I definately enjoyed and got something out of reading this. My favorite chapter was "Cottleston Pie".

Two of my favorite parts in the book I will briefly quote.

"And sometimes those very tendencies that you dislike the most can show up in the right way at the right time to save your life, Somehow."(Pg 61)

"I go down with the water and come up with the water. I follow it and forget myself. I survive because I don't struggle against the water's superior power. That's all." (pg 69)

This arrived with yesterday's mail; I picked this up off the relay site, as I have heard so many good things about it, now, I have a chance to read it myself (thanks, Lizabeth86, for sending it my way)

Journal Entry 6 by Maurean from Atlantic Beach, Florida USA on Thursday, September 29, 2005
Cute, entertaining and informative; I enjoyed it.
My favorite chapter was "Bisy Backson" (about enjoying the here & now; a concept I try to drill into my other-half on a daily basis - workaholic that he is!)

pg. 108 (great quote):
The main problem with the great obsession for Saving Time is very simple: You can't save time. You can only spend it. But you can spend it wisely or foolishly. The Bisy Bachson has practically no time at all, because he's too busy wasting it by trying to save it. And by trying to save every bit of it, he ends up wasting the whole thing.

Arrived safely in Texas today! After a book drought of sorts for a few weeks, two bookrings arrived today~ isn't that always how it happens?
I've been looking forward to reading this one for a while.

What a cute little book- one that I could read very quickly but I tried to slow down and savor it. It has some helpful, mindful ideas that it would be good to be reminded of again- I think I'll buy a copy for myself if I find one at the used bookstore. I was hoping to find time to reread before I sent it off, but I haven't yet and I can feel that Pooh is ready to travel. Will be mailed off soon. Thanks for sharing this book!

Simple, inspiring! I might actually by a copy for myself - for those emergencies when you feel like nothing is right!!

"...everything has its own place and function."
"I have certain limitations, and I know what they are."
"I go down with the water and come up with the water. I follow it and forget myself. I survive because I don't struggle against the water's superior power. That's all."
"That had to happen so that those could happen, and those had to happen in order for this to happen...".
"You can't save time. You can only spend it. But you can spend it wisely or foolishly. The Bisy Bachson has practically no time at all, because he's too busy wasting it by trying to save it. And by trying to save every bit of it, he ends up wasting the whole thing."

Mailed the book this morning to Chich - since I did not get any response from Hellie after 3 attempts.

Book received today, merci beaucoup muzette!

I'll finish the book I'm reading right now and will get right to it:)

Journal Entry 20 by chich from Ibiza - Sant Antoni de Portmany, Illes Balears/Islas Baleares Spain on Sunday, February 19, 2006
It's so calm, simple and inspiring I wanted to start reading it again as soon as I finished it! I started writing down quotes from the book but there were so many of them that I ended up copying most of the book, so I decided to get a copy of my own:)

I definitely agree with tranq1 when she says this book can change your life: it's so uplifting! What I found really interesting when reading the journal entries here is how everyone identifies with a different chapter from the book, a different character. The book really has something to offer to each and everyone of us, it echoes our own personal experiences. My favorite chapters must be "Cottleston Pie" and "Nowhere and nothing", even though making a choice is really hard!

This is a wonderful book, probably one of the best I've ever read! Thank you so much for sharing it with us Maurean

To be sent to bestfriends tomorrow.

Journal Entry 21 by bestfriends from - Ergens in de provincie, Gelderland Netherlands on Tuesday, February 21, 2006
Surprise! The book arrived unexpectedly today (as nobody asked for my address.
Am I that well known ;-)? Thanks chich, also for the nice card!

I joined the ray, as I had already heard so many wonderful thinks about this book, but somehow never could lay hands on it to read it. From what I see in the entries here, they must all be true! I'll put it on top of MTBR and I am looking forward to reading it!

Journal Entry 22 by bestfriends from - Ergens in de provincie, Gelderland Netherlands on Friday, March 10, 2006
I finished reading a couple of days ago, but when I asked for the address of the next on the list (star1978) she told me she wanted to be skipped.

This makes me the last one in the ray and I’m grateful for that, as I want to reread it more carefully, without the urge I always feel when reading a ring or ray book.

You see, when I wanted to look up a certain chapter, to quote from in my review, I found some passages that I started to see in a different way when reading them a second time.

So I will give it a rest after its journey, carefully reread it and then find someone who realy wants to read it too (rather than wild release it).

May update: Meanwhile I did reread certrain chapters. Lot's of wisdom to be found in this book. What I will remember best, are the different approaches of solving a problem!

Book is ready to travel again now. I offered it at Bookrelay as a "Beloved Book" (more than 3 journallers and at least an average rate of 7). Hope someone will accept it and enjoy it too!

1 June: Was exepted by Starry-Starry ;-) http://bookrelay.com/relay.php?id=1393
Will be sent to her today.
