I read this book once years ago shortly after I saw the movie. All I really remembered of it was that the ending was very different. Truman Capote's "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is much more raw than the sanitized Hollywood version, but what makes both of them so appealing is Holly Golightly. She is the kind of character that you want to know more about, whose wistfulness makes you want to protect her, who makes you want to share an afternoon in her presence.

The other three short stories are interesting as well. "House of Flowers" tells the story of a prostitute in Port au Prince. "Diamond Guitar" is about an 18 year old convict who brings life and music to a group of prisoners. "A Christmas Memory" is a lovely story about childhood.

Thanks so much to hunnyb for sharing this! I will be sending it along as soon as I finish the Audrey Hepburn biography.

I'm so glad these arrived when they did - this weekend, I've been on a Audrey kick, and watched Roman Holiday and Paris When It Sizzles. I can hardly wait to read these, and then watch Breakfast at Tiffany's! *grin*
