I bought this collection after reading an intriguing article about the author in the NYTimes book review. I plan to read it on the plane to LA tonight, then pass it on to my dad.

If I'd read these books when I was younger, I'd have run away to the City of Angels long ago. I don't remember the last thing I read whose every sentence was so bursting with love, pain, beauty. This volume compiles all five of the Weetzie Bat books. I loved them all, though the Witch Baby stories were my favorite, especially "Missing Angel Juan," the fourth book in the series. These are very special books, written in fairy-tale prose, unafraid to discover kinds of love that many people fear, and, in turn, to explore the things we fear with love.
