Synopsis:
In a remote part of the Peak District stand the Nine Virgins, a ring of stones overshadowed by a dark legend. Now, as winter closes in, a tenth figure is added to the circle - the body of Jenny Weston is discovered, her limbs arranged so she appears to be dancing. This might only be the beginning.

I love Stephen Booth and if you haven't yet read anything by this author, you are in for a huge treat. The book begins slowly, drawing you in until its hooks have you secure and then the pace just pulls you through the book. The personalities of Diane Fry and Ben Cooper are a welcome contrast, both adding a great deal. The other major personality in Stephen Booth's books is the Peak District itself, always there brooding in the background.

#2 featuring Ben Cooper

It´s a huge long book, 562 pages, and it took a long time to read. The main reason, I think, was not because it was long, but perhaps because I was expecting something different, more action and mystery and less psychological elaboration of players and scenery. The author takes a more pshychological approach to describe the people in it, but somehow I found he takes too long a time doing it. So it´s a bit boring to go through the middle of it, though by the end of the book things get warmer and more interesting.
