I checked this out from the library a little while ago, and I liked it so much, that I ended up buying this copy for my permanent collection. This was the story of Tom Wallace, a regular guy with a wife, baby boy and another on the way. Tom and his family moved into a rental house just 2 months before the story started. The story opens with Tom, his wife and his brother-in-law gathering at a neighbor's house with a few other neighbors. The conversation leads around to the subject of hypnotism, when Tom's brother-in-law proves it possibility by hypnotizing Tom. The story then takes place over the next week in Tom's life, as this hypnotism seems to have awakened latent psychic powers in Tom, and reeks havoc in his life and that of his family. This was a real page-turner of a book. I couldn't put it down as I wanted to see what Tom would experience next, and how it would resolve. I can't talk about the book much at all without giving anything away, except that though it was very similar to the movie starring Kevin Bacon, but the ghost and the twist were indeed different.... unpredictable in a way, but yet obvious and satisfying. A quick, recommended read.
