2005/40

This was the story of Henry and Clare DeTamble. Henry is a person with a (rare) genetic disorder that gives him the ability to travel through time in and out of his own life. He has been time traveling since the age 6, often as a stress reaction to his current life. He always shows up naked and hungry and has gotten into some pretty interesting situations because of this. He runs into his own self a lot, and teaches his younger self self-preservation skills. Then he disappears back to his own real-time.

The heart of the matter is his relationship with the love of
his life, Clare. He's visited her often during her childhood. The
story is told more-or-less chronologically along her life
line, as his is a bit too convoluted to keep track. It's really a very touching and sweet story, and an excellent effort for a first novel.

Though I really enjoyed this story, I don't think I'll ever re-read it. However -- I do think, (if they do it right) it would make a tremendous movie which I'd love to watch over and over again. (Supposedly, there is a director thinking about this already, and I can't wait to see it!)

I'm reserving this for Flyinfox, then I'll decide if it's a keeper or releaser.
