Book 2 of Pamela Aidan's Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman, triology is not as engaging as the first volume. I find Aidan more proficient when the tale links more directly to Austen's original novel. This second volume attempts to trace Darcy's adventures and life between the time he leaves Netherfield and when (I assume) he will again meet Elizabeth Bennet when the both visit Kent in the spring. In my opinion it fails to faithfully represent Darcy as I would imagine his thoughts and actions to be and even the hints that his love for Elizabeth is already well-advanced does not ring true to the original plot line.

I do look forward to the 3rd installment, hoping for an improvement over this second book once Darcy's life again connects with Miss Bennet and Aidan is back in an arena with which she seems more comfortable and capable.

Decided at the beginning of this year (2017) to read more books from the 1001 Books To Read Before You Die Book List. With that in mind, I've yet to read Pride and Prejudice and recently purchased both a lovely hardcover copy, along with a paperback copy to make available for elizardbreath's 1001Library-USA Bookcrossing Bookshelf https://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/10/543067 , from a Friends of the Library Sale. While not on the 1001 Book List, this Trilogy sounds like an interesting extension to the saga from another author's perspective, so I am choosing Books 1 - 3 from JennyC1230's Variety Genre Bookbox to have available for future reading once I do have an opportunity to read actually Pride and Prejudice.
