Journal Entry 3 by ppagano from Miami, Florida USA on Monday, April 25, 2005
I just finished reading this book and will send it on to the next on the list.
As always - reading about Anne Frank is never tiring and I will next check out the movie since I have never watched it yet.
A shame that she had to suffer such ordeals, but very interesting how a family can survive in such a small space for such a very long time.

This book has been sent off... finally to caitdwyer. I apologize for the delay as I've been unable to make to PO.

Enjoy! :-)

Sorry for the delay in journaling this. I read this book for the first time back in elementary school in Ireland and we actually visited the Secret Annexe in the Netherlands as part of a field trip.

The book is very interesting indeed, especially when Anne describes the dynamic of several families forced to live in such restricted living conditions.

I am just about ready to send this off to the next person on the list.

Sent to mirp in Ireland on 29 July 05.

I'd like to say I enjoyed this book but I don't think it's really appropriate. I had only ever heard of Anne Frank, I had never seen the film. I was just amazed at how well she and her fellow housemates coped. What did come across to me what that, it doesn't matter what kind of situation you're in, you are still you, you don't automatically change just becasue your situation does. No matter how are things became, she stayed true to herself, with the help of Kitty!

I will be sending this book on to Flaming-Ice by AirMail. I hope you get it posted on Monday.

I found this earlier today in the mailbox. The stamp on it reads Sept 17, but for reasons beyond me, it arrived to my house today. As stupid as this sounds, I think the peeps in the post office didn't feel like delivering the parcel until today. Ugh.. I will read this as soon as possible, as I do not have any other rings/rays to read. Thanks for sending, Mirp.

Saying that this book was great is an understatement. I couldn't put it down, literally. The book kind of reminded me of Malika Oufkir's Stolen Lives, only this one was sadder and more .. alive. Besides, you know when you read Malika's book that she and her family earned what they've been through (cheating on the people of thier country, etc) but Anne's only "sin" is that she is Jewish. What I did not like about the book is how Anne talks about something in a certain entry, and you expect her to tell you more about it on the next entry but she does not. But I guess it's a diary afterall: I mean Anne wasn't writing it for us readers anyways. I already bought the movie last night, and am ordering a hardback copy to keep in my permanent collection. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read this, Apolonia. And thanks again for sending, Mirp :-)

I had been meaning to read this book for years and it has been a real surprise. I could not put it down and was amazed, inspired and impressed by Anne's writing, her thoughts and how she tried to get to know herself as much as possible. The diary is even stronger as the reader knows what fate awaits poor Anne and her family hiding in the Secret Annexe. An amazing book, thanks Apolonia.
Mbrant skipping ring, waiting for Breeni's addy.
01/03/06: Sent to Breeni.

There is so much from Anne's story that I missed out on from the little abridgement in my English book in school. What I found interesting is that Anne considers herself at times to be less than intelligent, when her writing speaks for itself. Just the amount of knowledge she possessed and the studies she undertook independently would put most of today's students to shame. Her thirst for knowledge and desire to learn, even in the midst of her adolescent concerns, is inspiring. It's a terrible loss that such a bright mind had to die in vain. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read this, Apolonia. The book will be on its way back to you soon as I have not heard anything from the last participant in the ring.
