This is a "will they won't they" love story where two childhood sweethearts meet up again. Of course they have spouses and children now which complicates matters somewhat. It's beautifully written and thought provoking and the tension builds at the end, although I found the end itself a bit of a damp squib! Posting it off now to the TBWs, Avoca first.
This looks intriguing: looking forward to starting it tonight!
I found this well written and intriguing to go back to a time when email, mobile phones and Friends Reunited weren't around: what a difference they would have made to the story! Thanks for a thought-provoking and enjoyable read. Will send on to Camis.
Arrived today - I have read a couple of Anita Shreve's books and enjoyed them, so looking forward to this.
An interesting tale of young love resurfacing...can't say I'd be rushing off to get in touch with any of my old boyfriends!
As with other books I've read by this author, it was well-written and easy to get into. I also felt a bit let down by the end though.
Will post on to Happygran shortly.

This just wasn't my sort of book and I have so many others to read at the moment that I gave up.Sending on.
I was disappointed in this book. Like Camis, I have read a couple of Anita Shreve's books before and found them readable and engaging. However, I wasn't interested in these characters at all & found the whole story rather dreary!
I have just posted this on to Mrs Bridgewater.

I did try to read this book! I always look at the covers of Anita Shreve's books and think that they look so beautiful and appealing and that I *must* read them, but I have yet to find one where I can get past the first 100 pages!
Will be giving this to Decembermum when I see her tomorrow.

I read this quite quickly and enjoyed it while I was reading it but at the end was left with a sense of "so what?". It did annoy me that her memories were in the first person and his were in the third but the reason for that was obvious at the end.
