Journal Entry 1 by catrionamoore from Ellistown, Leicestershire United Kingdom on Sunday, February 20, 2005
My first delve into creating a bookbox. I had the idea when I found a suitable sized box and had been wondering what to do with all those TBR's I've had for years that I just know that I will not get around to reading this lifetime. Participants arturogrande Sterile Tiggysbabes caffcaff dodau ffyrestarr akg Jenatleisure catrionamoore LynCollyer Please take as many books out as you like but replace with the same number of books (ie - if you take out 3, put in 3) so there will always be 10 in the box. Journal the books you take (using their BCID's), and make release notes/journal the ones you add. Please also journal here (letting us all know you've received the box/sent it on). I will put a card in the box giving this BCID, please remember to put it back in the box before sealing it up. PLEASE NOTE! You DO NOT need to read any of the books before sending the box on. So please don't hold on to the box for more than 2 weeks. Take out the books you want to read, and read at your leisure. If the box gets really damaged please replace it.

Here are the ten books to start the box off. They are from different genres so the box is fairly eclectic. Feel free to replace any of the books with any of your books, I'm not bothered about replacing genre for genre. I'm looking forward to seeing what books I receive in return. Hopefully they will be read rather than a perpetual TBR! Escape your Shape by Edward Jackowski The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray Hideaway by Dean Koontz Black House by Stephen King and Peter Straub The Big Losers by Robert Tilley Supping with Panthers by Tom Holland You Are What You Eat by Dr Gillian McKeith Beat Candida Cookbook by Erica White Hand Rhymes by Marc Brown

Ok I have taken out three. Even Steven The Surgeon & Lost Light. In their place I am putting When's it coming out - Maureen Lipman Gather together in my name - Maya Angelou A patchwork Planet -Anne Tyler Baggage - Emily Barr Ok so I know the idea was to put in TBR books that I'll never read but to be quite honest most those that I have are really crap and I want to put in books that people actually want to read. I have ffyrestars address. She's so close Icould actually deliver it to her. But I will post it on Tuesday and enclose something nice for her.

Journal Entry 18 by ffyrestarr from Warminster, Wiltshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, April 12, 2005
well i'm back in cheltenham and unfortunately due to some 'extra goodies' my mother loaded me down with when i left warminster, and that bit of easter sale shopping i did i wasn't able to fit the whole box in my luggage. rather than post it to myself i decided that it wouldn't be too much of a hardship to sneak out a few more books so i have taken out: The Trouble with Single Women A Patchwork Planet Witches and Warlocks and Gather Together in My Name so i took out 9 books altogether. to replace those taken go: Wheelworld by Harry Harrison 10lb Penalty by Dick Francis This Immortal by Roger Zelazny Brat Farrar by Josephine Tey Fundamentals of Psychology by C J Adcock The Shape of Minds to Come by John Taylor How the Mind Works by Steven Pinker A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess a few not strictly TBR but books that needed new homes anyway.

My first ever book box has arrived. In fact it arrived yesterday, but I fell asleep when I got in from work so didn't get round to journalling it. It caused excitement in the office especially when I started taking out the books and Quality Streets kept appearing; I was nice and shared a few, but kept most of them for me. Thanks ffyrestarr.

The book box is home, albeit for a brief stay. Thank you very much to everyone who has particpated so far, thanks also to your generosity as I've ended up with more than 10 books. It has been a tempting few hours from returning home and my neighbour passing me my parcel and the time when I will see LynCollyer and I have to confess to taking four books. I shall see what I've got to replace them.

Journal Entry 27 by catrionamoore from Ellistown, Leicestershire United Kingdom on Tuesday, July 05, 2005
The box has now returned home ready to commence it's virtual journey. I will catch all the books on to my shelf (watch my statistics go loopy) and make sure they all have an entry that says something about the book for the virtual particpants to peruse. The participants for the virtual tour are as follows AppleAngel in Malaysia [INT] nikel27 in Germany [INT] pheelya SKIPPED kellyhp SKIPPED nekki2976 US [INT]NO RESPONSE Olliebear UK chelseagirl UK purple-pixie UK camis UK AnglersRest UK scaree UK sunlightbub UK I will email each person in turn with the list of books available. From that list you make your selection and PM me with your address, the books you require and the books you are replacing them with and their BCID (NB I will not need the first 3 digits of the BCID, as I will just want to provide a link for the rest of the particpants). Please take as many books out as you like but replace with the same number of books (ie - if you take out 3, put in 3) so there will always be 10 in the box. I will PM you again when your books have been selected and provide you with the address to send them on. Hopefully that all makes sense as I take my first dive into the world of the virtual book box.

First time I've ever been into a box of any kind. Most of the books are not really my current 'read', but the Robert Silverberg 'Century of Fantasy' caught my eye. Will look for something suitable on Wednesday to replace it. Edited to say Sorry for holding up the virtual tour, now back on it's wanders :)
