Lost in a Good Book
11 journalers for this copy...
I got this for Christmas, and am just now reading it ... I know a lot of people like these books, but I haven't read "The Eyre Affair", so I hope this one will "stand alone". Otherwise, I'll have to track down and read Eyre Affair first - ah well, the travails of the book addict!
I tried to read this without reading the Eyre Affair first, but wasn't able to do so. Now I'm actually glad that I did read Eyre Affair AND this one. I only rated it an 8 because I think books should "stand alone", i.e., be able to be read without having to read something else. The only exception would be if a book is actually marked/noted as part of a series. In my opinion, too, it rambled and the structure was rather loose, but all in all, an enjoyable read. Will create a bookring when I have time.

RELEASE NOTES:
rec'd in mail 8-13-05, will read right away! :) Thanks
I read this in about two days, and thought it was a good read. Not the best book I've ever read (although not having read The Eyre Affair first made a difference, I'm sure!) but I loved all the literary references. I'm in the mood to go back and reread Great Expectations, Jane Eyre, etc. as a result.
The book is centered around a twisted logic, but logic it is. The plot twists and turns, but in a Jurisfiction kind of way, it all makes sense in the end.
Will be sending along to fizzfred pending address. Enjoy! :)

sent today to fizzfred. Thank you, Lobodyke, for sharing with us! :D
I just finished The Eyre Affair today so I was excited to see this in my mail. Hopefully it won't be too much Thursday Next all at once for me. :) I'll start this one now and journal again soon.
I must admit The Eyre Affair bugged me a bit. I enjoyed it ok but I couldn't get "into" it like I thought I would. :) Having said that, I loved Lost In A Good Book! Yes, some of the logic made my head hurt but that didn't matter because, for me, this book was great fun. I wasn't sure if I was going to devote myself to the whole series but now I know I will. I have to know what happens with Thursday and Landen and even Pickwick!!!
Thank you so much Lobodyke for sharing this book. I will get it to Rosalinde as soon as I get an address.

Whoa, I am pretty sure that I mailed this last week. Sorry, I seemed to have forgotten to make a journal entry saying so. Rosalinde should be getting it soon.
Received this in the mail this week. I will read it as soon as possible, probbly start next week. Lots of great bookmarks in the book, too!
Finished late last night. I wasn't sure about this, I mean, it was a lot thicker than I thought it would be! Would I have time? Would I like it? Would I just pass it on without reading? 1/3 the way into it, I wasn't interested, but I slogged on a little farther. I haven't read the Eyre Affair, so some of this was just a bit confusing. But then it all seemed to get into place, and I read the last 2/3 in 2 days.
I did enjoy the book. Though it is highly unbelievable of course, even for a sci-fi/fantasyish book. The charm was in the humor and irreverence. Whoever thought dodos could make good pets? I especially liked the part when Thursday locked herself out of the apartment and tried to get Pickwick to get the keys for her. What fun to be able to travel through books and meet the characters. I was sad that not everything was resolved in the end with her husband. I'm going to be on the lookout for the first and the next books too now.
Thanks for making this a bookring. I probably wouldn't have finished and discovered what a fun book it was, without this! Will be sending this on as soon as I get the address for the next person in line.

When it rains it pours - LOL! Two bookrings arrived the same day (yesterday). Good thing I'm a quick reader. I'll get to this soon and pass it along.

Saturday was a beautiful fall day in Western Maryland, perfect for sitting out on the C&O canal reading this book and waiting for my 'runner' to come by.

I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next in the series. I love Miss Havisham's driving, what a hoot! It makes me want to re-read Great Expectations. With all the crazy subplots and bizarre circumstances, the main storyline actually flows well.
I have FiBe's address and I hope to get this in the mail this week (but with the holiday, I may not get to the post office until the weekend).
Thanks for sharing this book, Lobodyke.
Anyone know where I can get a pet dodo? Plock Plock

I enjoyed this book! As I'd read The Eyre Affair so long ago though I'd forgotten bits of it and when references to the previous book came up it did frustrate me a bit (but that's only because of my terrible memory grrr!).
Am now looking forward to reading the next book "Well of Lost Plots" yes?????
Will send on to sunlightbub later this week when I can get to the post office.

This is going out to batty tomorrow!
I read this immediately after rereading The Eyre Affair so I enjoyed it. I can see how one would be lost if reading this as a stand alone novel. I love the alernate reality concept and the names always make me chuckle. ( Brik Schitt-Hawse *snort*)
Thanks for letting me share xxxx

Arrived today!!! Thanks! Will get to soon.
I am half way through and have pm-ed bestfriends for an address to send off to france. It should get in the mail early next week.
This book was not as enjoyable as the first... I really had a hard time getting through this one. Not sure if I even want to continue the storyline. Maybe in year when I have given the book some distance.
The book will be in the mail this afternoon.

This arrived today - thanks bestfriends and everyone else for getting it here. I have three new bookray books today, but as this one was opened first I will start it first, probably on Monday when I've finished my current book.
This was a quick, fun read. I liked all the coincidences and loved the idea of an entroposcope to help work out when things are getting really weird! Thanks, Lobodyke, for sharing. Also, thanks bestfriends for the postcard which made a great bookmark.
I've packaged the book up to send to totoroandmei and will take it to the Post Office this afternoon.
