I often rant against what we losers among losers call the Dave Triumvirate (that would be Sedaris, Eggars, and Foster-Wallace.) Not because they're bad - they're actually quite good - but because everyone name-drops them in an attempt to look cool. They're the Olsen twins of literature: omnipresent, and certainly nothing to sniff at, but not exactly a well-kept secret.
Well, here's me blowing my cover: I actually do enjoy Eggers’ work. How We Are Hungry is an insightful collection of short stories. It’s not my favorite work of his, but there are certainly worse ways to spend a lunch hour!
